That depends on how much you need done. If you're bringing in tables, chairs, tents, etc, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. If most things are already set up and you're just placing centerpieces and such, I'd probably do it myself. Honestly, though, it's probably worth the $ not to have the stress!

I agree with @SaraJ, we're bringing all rentals, so it's more convenient for us to hire the planner, besides... as my dad put it "that feeling of not having to worry about setting everything up and no worrying about how late it is... will be priceless"

We're doing all the planning ourselves but hired a "day of coordinator" who will run the show for us and coordinate all the vendors, keep to the timeline, corral for photos, make sure the bride and groom eat etc. Actually our venue requires the day of coordinator. I feel relieved!
