diy wedding centerpieces, Vase size

Elizabeth, on January 27, 2020 at 9:43 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

Good evening brides! Need some expert advice...if anyone knows an event planner or florist: I decided to do my centerpieces DIY. I was going to buy vases and flowers in bulk and just do a straightforward bouquet. My question is, how tall should the vase be? and how many roses per vase to give it the 'right' effect? The tables at my venue fit anywhere from 8-12 people, but I will most likely keep it to 10 (just to provide a perspective on how large the tables are) Your opinions are greatly appreciated! thank you SO much!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community, Elizabeth Smiley smile

When buying your vases you will want to take into consideration the height, and not have them too high that guests cannot speak across the table.

My best advice is to mock up a centerpiece, using either fake or real flowers, to see if you’re happy with the size.

Have you checked out YouTube to see if you can find a DIY tutorial to follow? I always find them so helpful.

I guess it depends on the type of effect you are looking for.

I made my own centerpieces with silk florals for my wedding and went with tall vases so people were able to talk to each other. My tables were rounds that held 8 or 10 guests. Each of my vases had about 10-15 silk stems in there. I am not sure about real flowers. Here's a photo so you can get an idea of what it looked like.

I bought a vase and I putting a candle in it. You could do cylinder vase of 3 different sizes or a larger vase. I went to Michaels to get an idea of size of candle you could do same on vases

Guests should be able to see the other guests directly across from them. So consider short centerpieces that guests can see over, or tall centerpieces that guests can see under.

I am doing my centerpieces as well. I elected to go with both. Each table will have a focal piece with huge floral arrangement and vases 20" or 24" high (depending on the design for the table) and two accent centerpieces with vases 11" high. The smaller pieces will simply have a single flower in marbles and a floating candle.Hope that helped!Good luck! Enjoy the designing and the process.

I've been to quite a few wedding in my day lol. I've noticed that the amount of flowers in centerpieces really varies depending on the style, look & theme you are trying to achieve. You should definitely create a single sample centerpiece that has just the right height for your table, and play with the "fullness" of the flowers until it's perfect. Then you can order the perfect amount for the rest of your tables! Smiley laugh
