Diy wedding invitations

Elizabeth Buckley, on November 2, 2016 at 11:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

Has anyone on here made their own wedding invites ? I haven't found one that I like alot as a whole I can find parts of each I like. So I thought I'd try to make my own. Did you use a certain online site to put it together before print? I have read some things talk about picmonkey. Has anyone used this ? Any tips? Thank you guys so much!

I definitely did not make mine but if you are still open to buying some I went through 4lovepolkadots.com ! They have a lot to choose from. Good luck!

I made my invitations on Shutterfly. I've never heard of picmonkey but Shutterfly has many deals for printing photos and creating invitations.

I made mine. I found a template online with instructions to how to do everything. I am having a DW so I made invitations that looked like passports. They took me like 3 weeks to do and I love how they turned out. It really depends on what you are looking to spend and how much effort you want to put into them. I spent half of what I would if I had ordered the same invitations, but more than what I would have spent ordering from a site online.

I DIY'ed my wedding invitations by scanning illustrations and handwriting and combining them in Photoshop, but if you don't have those programs, Canva is a really good free tool for that! I got mine printed at Cards & Pockets along with pockets and envelopes. Great quality, color choices, and customer service!

Take a look around Etsy too. Sometimes the graphic artists can be worked with to create something custom.

You could also try looking for a graphic designer where you live and working with them to create something custom.

Yes we're planning to do diy as well. I tried looking for a lot of invitations but didn't really find anything I like. My FH is probably going to do the drawings of the venue and we'll probably scan and use illustrator for touch ups.

Michaels has a lot of Kits. I made my wedding invites, direction cards, rsvp cards, and reception cards for a total of 70 people for a price of $30.00. They turned out beautiful.

I did ours. I started out using purpletrail.com you can design from a blank canvas to using styles they have and then have the option to have them print or you self print.

Changed my mind and used vistaprint instead!! It was way cheaper and less error possibilities for me to use them instead. LOVE our invites.

We are pulling pieces from different places: invites from Shitterfly, response and reception/info cards from WPD, pocketfolds and envelopes/liners/backer cards from Cards and Pockets. This is what our suite will look like (plus the other enclosures, but their design is the same).

I made my invitation suite online. I used Vistaprint but just upgraded the paper stock to look more elegant.

We were able to do them in Word. Then layering the papers and adding the ribbon and brooch. The RSVP card was solid white with blue print (same font) with added graphics. We didn't need any other inserts. These fit the standard invitation envelopes.

I'm DIYing mine, but I'm a marketer and have some experience with Photoshop, so I just used that.

Canva and PicMonkey are both great for user experience. Pretty intuitive and great at guiding you. It doesn't hurt to play around and see if you can create something you like. Just get some straight forward opinions before you get them printed and sent though.

The WW community is perfect for giving feedback on this sort of thing. People here will tell you if your text is slightly misaligned or if the overall design just wouldn't look nice printed.

I designed mine myself and I love them... however I have a background in graphic design.

If you decide to do your own remember these simple rules: 1) choose two fonts (a script and a print) you can vary the size, use bold, change the color, but use more than two fonts and it'll look tacky.

    2) less is more

    3) keep the spacing even

    4) for the love of all that is holy, don't use clip art!!

ETA: oh and if you're printing them yourself then get a few extra so you can print them and make sure they look the way you want

I made all 250 of my inviations. I have a cricut machine and a lifestyle letterpress. My one tip is to PREPARE FOR TRIAL AND ERROR. I spent HOURS researching and price hunting. I probably spent a quarter of the time testing out prints and accounting for errors. It was sooo hard but I guess worth it in the end because they are truly one of a kind.
