Dedicated August 2022

diy Wedding

Lynne, on February 1, 2022 at 9:24 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 17

We are doing almost everything ourselves. I will be making the floral arrangements, my bouquet. I am trying to make sure I have everything needed but I kind of feel overwhelmed. Definitely getting everything so far at wonderful prices, which always helps.

My FH says "Our wedding is in 6 months, we have plenty of time." I told him that I don't feel like I do with making things, making sure I have everything needed. Not to mention I am selecting my dress this Thursday. I still need to get my bouquet holder, more flowers, flower pins, and much more things.

Is this when I start leaning on my MOH & bridesmaids or when I start asking family for assistance? I am trying not too stress out, but I feel a little rushed.

I'll work on my list(s) as well. I have to do inventory, since I picked some stuff up today.

My answer is rely on your partner. He doesn't have an out because he's a man. It's his wedding also. Give him the flowers and show him the way.

Yea! This is when you start leaning on your fiancé. If he’s not good with diy-ing, have him help you make lists, stay organized…etc

I don't want him to help only because he is working 60+ hours a week at work.

He has been helping wirh lists. He did the research and found our venue. He's been communicating with the caterer too.

Yes, this sure is real life. My partner and I also work 60+ hours and for this reason, we outsourced the creative elements. You are brave for tackling flowers! I'd rather do spreadsheets and budgeting. My recommendation is go easy on yourself and choose the path of least drama, least stress. If that means non-flower alternatives and less DIY, you can use votives and greenery for tablescapes, purchase fabric flower pins for bouts (got mine on Amazon), or hold a non-bouquet. Everything will be alright and still reflect who you are. As for helpers, your partner may like down time doing crafts together. For other helpers, just keep in mind that not everyone has time or talent or interest. It doesn't mean they aren't excited for you, however. Best wishes.

Thank you. I love assembling flower arrangements, it's relaxing for me. That's the biggest thing other than my bouquet that I need to do. Still need to purchase more flowers.

I am DIY-ing everything myself. FH mom has painted our guest book board, and center pieces and the fish bowls I am using for table numbers. Aside from that I have done it all myself. I am a slight control freak lol there I said it and this way I know it is done the way I want.

I've already done my flowers myself, and was able to do my bouquet, the throw away, MOH, and 4 boutonnieres in only a few hours. I can send you my list of what I used. I got everything off Amazon which was much cheaper and easier, and my flowers from Dollar Tree. And they're beautiful!! My advice would be to get a spiral that is only for your wedding and make a list of all the supplies and stuff you need. Feel free to reach out if you'd like and I can share more. 🙂

That would be awesome! I have a 3 ring binder for my lists. So far I've picked up flowers from Hobby Lobby, some from a formal dress shop, some from someone on Facebook. Just need to get other colors besides purple (ha ha)

I'm with Michelle. Since you said the flower arrangements are relaxing to you, why not finish getting all of your floral supplies and invite your MOH & bridesmaids over for a girls' night in and have them help you? If they're not accompanying you to select a dress, wait and share pics of the dress as a surprise during the girls' night.

I just finished my bouquets! Dollar tree has great eucalyptus and lamb's ear greenery right now. The lamb's ears would be super beautiful with your purple I think. Some of the prettiest roses in my arrangements are actually from Walmart. Walmart has some pretty lamb's ear too.

Michael's has spring floral sale right now too. You can do it!
