Dj "Do not Play" list

Okay so it was suggested to me to make a list of do not play songs to give to my dj, to keep guests from trying to get something like the chicken dance on that will just drive me crazy. Anyone else doing this? If you are, what songs did you list? I know my guest list pretty well and I definitely...

Okay so it was suggested to me to make a list of do not play songs to give to my dj, to keep guests from trying to get something like the chicken dance on that will just drive me crazy. Anyone else doing this? If you are, what songs did you list? I know my guest list pretty well and I definitely have some trouble makers that will pick the songs they know i hate just to see the annoyed look on my face, so I'm trying to bite that bullet early and seeing what others are putting on their lists I think would help me a lot to complete mine! Even if you aren't doing a list, what songs would you put on it if you were?

This is an education. I thought people liked those songs, since they seem to play them at every wedding.

My family being from Wisconsin and very Polish would kill me if I tried to ban the chicken dance. However, i am saying no Bieber, heavy metal, rap, punk (though FH gets a few of his favorites that can be understood).

We are pretty much telling the Dj older country, 70's and 80's is where we would like to be music wise

"Celebrate" by Kool and the Gang, was the first one I banned. I've heard that at every wedding I've ever been to, and I can't stand it!

I'm a 90s kid, and I love NSync, but not at weddings. Most of their dance hits were break-up songs, so that would be a downer at a wedding.

Blurred Lines is also a BIG NO for me. Anytime it comes on at an event, FH and I stop dancing and walk off the dance floor.

Achy breaks heart is the only one on my list so far, but I'll be adding a bunch more after reading this thread.

I can't think of anything besides no slow songs. I would hate to have attended a wedding where no hip hop was playing. I'm trying to get drunk and drop it low, ya know.

Apparently I'm the odd one out because I am definitely having cotton eye Joe, copperhead road, Cupid shuffle, Cha Cha slide played.

I will be banning the chicken dance and the hokey pokey for sure. I will also be banning all "crooners" such as Frank Sinatra, Etta James, etc. I have been in too many weddings and worked at too many restaurants to put myself through that music anymore. I also don't like Beyoncé or Bieber so those are making the list as well!

I live close to Detroit so Motown music has to stay in the mix. I'm a huge Journey fan so that's all there too. FH has no interest in this topic so I get to pick the do and do not plays.

    Eta spelling

The only things on our list are Blurred Lines and anything Chris Brown. I should add the Chicken Dance. Funny story - FH wanted to ban the Macarena, but when he asked his mom for mother-son dance songs, she came back with 4 random ass songs she wanted him to cut together, one of which was the Macarena LOL.
