DJ for $500 or less... Any recommendations?

Raven, on December 15, 2013 at 8:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

I am trying to find a good dj that comes with lighting for $500 or less in the Dallas area. One that will let me pick my own songs too... Thanks!

Have you done a vendor search here on WW? I found 3 pages of DJs that serve the Dallas area. Not sure any of them will fit your budget though.

Go with an ipod. I've seen 500 dj's...it's not pretty. Don't waste your money.

Contact local radio stations and see if their DJ's also do weddings.

Celia is correct. A "cheap DJ", more often than not, will cause more problem to your event than they will help. At the price point you mentioned, you're much better served to rent a quality sound system and use your own music library. The one difference I'd suggest is to use a laptop instead of an ipod. Get one of your relatives to run music for you and go over the schedule carefully with them. If you need any help on how to structure your event, drop me an email and I'll be glad to help. Good luck with it.

I found a dj for $650. The normal price is over $1,000. They are highly rated on the knot and wedding wire. Thanks!

Hire an MC and sign up for spotify ($10/month - cancel whenever you want). Have the MC announce events, and a friend or someone manage your music on spotify.

Not to revive too old of a thread, but there is a reason that most $500 DJ's are generally not that good, be it experience, equipment, etc.

I wrote an article on this http://pariscreative.com/dj-pricing/ that I hope you may find informative.
