Hey everyone I was curious if djs ever took a break or ate the food at the wedding or do they play music all night & just had a snack?
I mean we’re all human we need breaks but I’m just asking based on other people’s weddings if they played music all night?

Our DJ had an assistant so if he needed to take a break he could. We did make sure to provide dinner for both the DJ and his assistant.

Our DJ ate at the same time as the rest of us and the guests since w had a live electric violinist playing music during dinner service.

Our DJ had an assistant. We payed for vendor meals for both of them. I think they switched off. Same thing with the photographer and his assistant. We had to ask him twice if he had eaten anything and basically forced him to take a break and have some food.

The band we hired are managed by a company who represent DJs and all their contracts stipulate that the musicians (whether it be band or DJ) will require X x Y minute breaks throughout the evening with meals supplied, and how those breaks are taken (i.e. spacing) is at our discretion. We were advised that during their breaks they will play pre-recorded music.

I anticipate that this is standard in the industry.

Our DJ def ate at some point - we provided vendor meals - but she managed it so seamlessly, we never noticed that she did!

Our DJ ate during dinner when everyone else was eating. He just left music playing for the background noise.

Our DJ, photographer and photographer assistant ate when everyone else ate. I put them my count when I did my final count so that they would eat

Most DJs have a setup that will autoplay while they eat, if they don't have an assistant they can trade off with.

Absolutely make sure you feed all of your vendors. Also, from past experience, I recommend you arrange for them to get their plates first, so they can be back to their stations in plenty of time and not be rushed. I was an assistant videographer, and whenever we were fed at the end of the guest line (fed at the same time as guests, but all guests got their food first before we were served) it was "take three bites and frantically dash back to the reception area so you can be set up for the speeches," because by the time we got our food, most guests were finishing theirs and so it was time to move on with the formalities. Whenever we were fed first, we ate and were back setting up while everyone else was still eating, so no one noticed us setting up and we were ramped to go.

They do need to eat a real meal, but they’ll still play music all night. Our DJ set up a few songs to play and then ate his meal as they played through, while our guests were also eating dinner.

We had a 9-piece live band so not a DJ, but we provided vendor meals for them to eat during the entree. The band members stepped out for about 20 min total while the entree was served and played pre-recorded instrumental music. This is pretty standard for a band or a DJ to to, because everyone is human and has to eat!

They definitely take breaks especially think of during the time when everyone is just eating too and they just need to play a track list, that's an ideal time for them to take a break

We're having our DJ take a break and have dinner with everybody else. He said that's what he usually does, and in such a case, he just puts a playlist on as background music so the place isn't totally silent.

Sometimes when guests are eating dinner, the DJ will have an autoplay of music, and he or she gets to eat too! You need to fuel the machine so it can work! lol
