A band is considered a more formal choice. If you have a more casual wedding or a super young guest list, a DJ is probably fine!

Dj for us. More afforable, plus bands aren't really our thing.

We will have a band and a DJ. The band will perform first, after dinner is served the DJ will finish the evening.

DJ all the way! I want my dance floor to feel like i'm at the club and the DJ keeps playing my favorites.

DJ!!! I want someone that can adjust to all different types of music and we felt a DJ would do that best.

Your live band should have a sound system and will typically play recorded music when the band takes breaks (to eat, drink, use the restroom, etc, they aren't going to perform non-stop for hours on end). If there are only a handful of songs you want that you don't think your band can replicate, ask them if they'd be willing to play the professionally recorded original tracks for you. That way you get the best of both worlds!

Definitely a DJ! Even though I love live bands they just don't seem to go over well for many weddings.

We really want to opt for a live musician! They say you get more dancers on the dancer floor with a DJ, but the overall “vibe” we’re reaching for is a laid back, beach wedding with great music. I just don’t see my guests being much of the partying type - however that’s for my wedding personally! The weddings I’ve been to have always been so much fun with a DJ!

Portable music device for us too, most likely. But maybe a stereo at his mum's house afterwards. Smiley winking

DJ, although he’s just a friend of mine and acting as emcee. I’m creating our playlist and borrowing a speaker.

A dj all the way. They play music how people are used to hearing it and have a wider variety of music they are able to play.

I like the idea of having a live band. We're both audiophiles, so that seems like a natural choice.
