I found a really great DJ with awesome reviews and got back to me within an hour of reaching out to him. My parents are paying for the wedding, and my mom said he was very expensive for a DJ. It was going to be about $2500 for ceremony and reception. What does everyone else think about what a "normal" price would be? I honestly have no idea and want to have a better idea when I'm researching. TIA!

That seems on the higher end but like the others said it depends on the area. My DJ is $700 for 6 hours in Kansas City

Talent costs. So does setting up in multiiple locations....

it's a bit high, but not out of the realm of possibility for someone good.

Yes, and the date is going to make a difference.

That seems high to me. I am also in a low cost locale. However, I wonder what role the fact that it is NYE plays in that price. If you don't want all of the extras, and that's his standard package - go with someone else. You don't have any obligation to go with them just because you asked for a quote. It's simple to say ok thanks and move onto the next one.

I'm in NYC and my DJ was $2300 for his most expensive package. Your price would be normal in my area, I have no idea about AL. But like others, I'm also thinking it's because your wedding is on NYE.

I've been quoted such high prices honestly, so that seems average. The lowest I have been quoted was $2000, which is why I have not settled on a DJ as of yet.

We're paying $3,150 in CT for the whole day and dance floor lighting which I think is a little steep but not totally unreasonable given the reputation of this company. This was the DJ most recommended to us by others and we felt that having a good DJ would be worth it!

We paid 740 for all day including uplighting. But we got a discount for a wedding I march and for booking early. They regularly charge 1400 for the same package. We live in DFW.

Wow that is expensive but I don't know how many hours you're gonna need him but I'm using my DJ for ceremony & reception 5 hours on a Sunday I got 3 quotes $450, $795 and $1000 all good ones but I think it a lot of factors play a part in a price but still $2500 is expensive.

For your date, sounds about right I would say. I know I should expect to pay more for a holiday and especially NYE.
