DMV Brides! Let's talk venues.

@ Boozy- I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that! Even though I knew what DMV was (I lived in Pasadena for a little while)

I had a mental image of a bunch of brides that worked at the DMV gabbing about their weddings. That must be why the lines are so long, they're all too busy talking about their weddings instead!

Loco (Loudoun County) bride here.

Our venue is 2ish hours southwest at the Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton, Virginia. It's about halfway between Charlottesville and Staunton.

Punkin, you're getting married at Blue Mountain?!?! That's my H's favorite place ever!!

We got married in Haymarket, VA at Bull Run Golf Club. It was perfect!

I just got married at Belmont manor in elkridge md. We brought everything in (coordinator, caterer, video, photography, florist, decor, baker, etc) This venue was amazing to work with. They feel like family now. Haha.

All these NoVA brides and no Richmonders?! We're getting married about an hour outside of Richmond.

@Wifin, we are downstairs in the Charles Ballroom. Cocktail hour across from it, can't remember the room name but it's the one with Baltimore murals. I loved the Platinum room! What really sold us on the Belvedere over the Grand (the other venue we loved) was the Owl Bar. I think it's such a cool option for an after party!

Ceremony and reception at the new inn ballroom of the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Stevensville (the other side of the Bay Bridge).

We signed our contract as the space was still being built and then discovered the contractor messed up and the room was smaller than planned and couldn't hold as many people....so we switched to an entire cocktail reception without big round tables to make it work!!!

@Laura- That's hilarious! We looked at the Grand too. It was almost perfect until I read the reviews... The 13th floor (such a cool space), and Kat were what sealed the deal for us.

My ceremony will be on Bond Street Wharf Pier (Fells point) and the reception is at Barcocina (a restaurant) also on the water.

I'm having my ceremony and reception both at a little cabin at gambrill state park. 100% DIY but hey I got the venue for two days for under $200!

@Jackie I've heard that venue is gorgeous! A girl from my HS just booked there.

@Wifin' yeah we had a negative experience there - it was gorgeous but the coordinator was 45 minutes late to our meeting and not very apologetic, and that just started things off on the wrong foot. Plus we thought the area around the Belvedere was prettier.

My ceremony and reception in DC at the willard intercontinental. The primary restrictions we have are no things like smoke machines or sparklers which is a bit of a downer but the place is so beautiful so it was worth it either way.
