Do bubbles ruin the dress?

Ingrid, on September 11, 2022 at 4:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

So I have heard mixed things about bubbles and am less than a week away from the wedding and have a bunch of bubbles purchased. Some people said it ruins the dress, other said only satin or flat surfaced materials... Does anyone now anything about this? My dress is not satin and is not flat (fluff on fluff) and my bridesmaids are not wearing satin. I feel for the amount of bubbles that will be blown in a short amount of time it won't be any big deal but now I'm worried.

Shout out to all my 9/17/22 brides!!!

Thank you! Smiley smile

Imani will probably chime in on this issue. She had equipped people with bubble kits at the wedding and had not complaints about the outcome. I suppose anyone with tuxes on could be affected by the bubbles. There are bubble liquids that are supposed to be kinder to your dress.

It is probably best if the bubbles are in a narrow location so guests would not involuntarily be caught in the bubbles. But if you put this in the hands of the guests, the bubbles will be all over.

I've noticed chiffon fabric can show water rings very easily. I was just in a wedding yesterday as a bridesmaid. At dinner I spilled a bit of water on my lap. When it dried, there was a faint but noticeable (to me) water ring on the spot. I would assume soap does something similar.

That said, I've never *heard* of bubbles ruining a dress, but my experience last night tells me it's definitely possible with certain fabrics

Bubble mixture stains EVERYTHING. And it’s almost impossible to get out of fabric. I’m in a cloth nappy Facebook group which is run by scientists; they have laundry solutions to get rid of pretty much anything you can think of - except bubble mixture. They haven’t found anything which gets that out of clothes. Rust, blood, mould - no problems. But not bubble mixture.

If the bubbles are just on the wedding couple, the only issue is for you and your spouse. Also, even if the bubbles left any noticeable stain, it would then just be part of your celebration and memories. You could get the bubble solution and do a test run with clothes of similar material.

We used bubbles and had no issues at all. I got them from Amazon and didn’t cause any damage to my dress or anyone else clothes. Do you know where you plan to get them or if you’re going to have a bubble machine?

Bubbles are soap and water, period. You would have to have a very rarely sensitive type of fabric for the bubbles to stain.

Fresh rose petals are similar. Many people say they stain every fabric on earth just by looking at them, but reality is that you have to deliberately grind them in order for any oils to transfer. Just walking regularly on them or barely grazing them with your hands will not cause that to happen. It’s very common to misinform when someone doesn’t like an idea instead of testing it out.
