Do colors need to match the season of the wedding?

Mother of the Bride here, and have been given free reign by my daughter to make decorations and centerpieces. Daughter says she likes blue and silver, which is beautiful! Are there any rules, do you think, for matching the colors to the season? If wedding is in April, do the colors need to be...

I'm having a fall wedding but hate traditional fall colors, maroon, purple, orange, red, etc. Our colors are navy, blush, and gold! Anything goes!

I don't think so. We're having a fall wedding but we went with our favorite colors, pink and black.
My first wedding was also in October and I did the seasonal colors then - burgundy and burnt orange. It was beautiful but I don't feel like it's necessary to replicate nature's colors.
One exception might be an outdoor wedding, if the autumn trees are all gold and red and orange and the colors are, say, seafoam green and gray, there could be a clash between the decor/clothes and the background.
