Do emerald and purple go well together?

I want to have a purple as one of my wedding colors - probably a medium purple. My wedding is also outdoors at a zoo, so I was thinking that I could pair it with a nice emerald green (see example of bridesmaid dress from David's Bridal). I've seen purple and lime green paired together, but I want a green that's more natural and works better for a zoo. What do people think? Can I use ivory as the third color?

    I believe they are both jewel tones, but regardless they work very well together. And, you'll definitely see a lot of peacock accents when you search the colors.
