Do fake flowers look different?

Halie, on June 14, 2020 at 2:44 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14
Im considering doing something like the picture below for our table centerpieces. The tables are really small. My question is should I go with real flowers or fake flowers? Also, has anyone made something like this themselves? It seems like it would be very simple to DIY. Also, has anyone DIY boutonnières or gone without? We are getting married on a riverboat so much more causal feeling than some weddings.

The picture didn't post, so I'm not sure about some of the questions. However, with the title question, the answer is, it depends. Some fake flowers look better than others. Some fake flowers look super plastic and others looks super real with everything in between. High quality silk can be just as expensive as real, but Hobby Lobby have some pretty good ones for a lot less.

Faux flowers now a days can look really nice and real! Of course real flowers have a quality to them that can’t be mimicked but faux flowers are a good affordable option too

Faux flowers work for me as long as they are of good quality. i dont purchase cheap ones specifically for that reason. the ones i buy are about the same price as real flowers, but i prefer fake flowers as i can keep them/repurpose them in the future. so i cant say theyre most cost-effective, but they look just as good and they have more than one purpose as opposed to only being able to use real flowers once. we are making all of our decor, bouquets, and boutonnières because im such a DIY bride. once again, it might not be cheaper but i like placing my fate in my own hands rather than somebody elses. good luck!!!

I've actually been looking into paper flowers. They are absolutely beautiful, ecological and can be mixed with real flowers. Plus they are 100% customizable. Do fake flowers look different? 2

I personally think you should go with real flowers. Faux flowers tend to look like rubbish unless you spend decent money on really good quality ones (imho).

Particularly as you’re going to have them in arms reach and will be small arrangements it won’t cost you much to go with real flowers anyway?

That looks super simple and easy to do! You can always resell as well. It is probably not expensive with a florist. So unless you are feeling crafty and have the time, DIY is a good thing.

I can’t believe the last picture are paper flowers! We are getting married on a riverboat so real flowers might be the way to go in case they get blown into the water!

That’s true. I just know I’ll have a lot of time to do things myself so I thought I’d ask.

Check Amazon for bulk "real touch" flowers. They are made out of thin layers of foam so they feel soft like real petals. Pretty affordable too, IMO. Then you can sell the arrangements on FB marketplace or elsewhere if you don't want to keep them and get some $ back.

Hobby lobby has my favorite, but i havent experimented with much more. theirs can get kind of pricey so try to wait until florals are 50% off to buy as they throw this sale every few weeks.

For simple bud vase type arrangements like your photo, I'd think you could buy bulk fresh flowers pretty inexpensively (look at the Costco website for their mail order bulk flowers for one option). With tables that small, people are going to be sitting right next to the centerpieces, so it will likely be pretty obvious if you use fake flowers. And, unless you buy super cheap fake flowers, bulk roses, carnations, etc., likely won't cost more than fake for these types of arrangements. Good luck!

I know, they are so beautiful! Riverboat sounds like fun. I suppose it depends on how they are anchored. Hope none of your flowers blow away!
