Do I give favors to each person, or the couple?

Emilyb35, on February 21, 2017 at 8:21 PM

We are giving out mini maple syrups for our favors, and they are a little on the pricey side so I was wondering if I can give them to the couple or do I have to give them to each guest?

I hope you like maple syrup, to use up all the extras. No one in my family likes it.

My husband gets real maple syrup at work, from a Canadian supplier every Xmas. No one at work wants it, either. I put it in the food collection basket, at church.

@Brittany I'm not having 150 people only 50... our estimate that we got for favors was $75 because we won a discount from a bridal expo, split between me and my FH $37 each completely doable

Pretty sure that was directed at me FB.

Fine. Favors aren't necessary and if they are too pricey don't do them. Especially if you aren't paying for a catered meal for your guests.

I would consider another favor if you are serving waffles. Or I would bring the syrup out toward the end after the meal is served because you won't want guest to use them right away, you want them to have something cute to remember your reception.

I personally love breakfast for dinner. We have it often in my house. We are busy so hardly ever have time to have breakfast for...well breakfast LOL

Shelby - I'm sure you've been on this forum long enough that you not you can't call someone a name or tell people how to comment.

@Pia I thought it was a great idea and everyone I've talked to LOVES it! Of course we'll also have some options for people that aren't into it. We are getting married on the beach, so maybe I'll think of something beachy for the favors then!

Who's making the waffles? How are you going to keep them hot? What other breakfast items are you serving? Bacon and sausage have to be properly cooked. And the omelettes...are they being cooked and kept in a hot chafing dish or are they being cooked to order? Somebody is going to working this breakfast. I was under the impression that breakfast/brunch buffets are budget friendly. For 50 guests, you really can't afford a caterer? All snark aside (because it's obvious that snark isn't getting through to you. You really don't understand the flaw in your plan, do you?), you do realize that you'll be far more relaxed if you hire a catering service. The day already goes by in a flash, and you don't want to be worried about how the self-catering is being received.

And, are you serving alcohol? There's something about drinking wine or beer with waffles/butter/syrup and an omelette that just doesn't work. At least serve vodka/orange juice as a signature cocktail...or maybe Bellinis.

If you've been on other forums and are getting the same reaction, doesn't that make you reconsider?

Put them on the tables and let them use it for the waffles. There's nothing against breakfast for dinner but do it right. Get a cater, waffle station, build your own omelet station, breakfast meats stations. etc.
