Do I need 1 or 2 videographers?

Amanda, on December 14, 2014 at 11:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

I am having two photographers already but videography is also something that is very important to my fiancé and I. We have selected a videographer and are now trying to decide between two packages. Both packages are identical, other than with one you get one videographer, and one stationary camera... or for an extra $400 you can get an extra videographer to control that camera rather than it just being stationary in the room somewhere. I am having a really tough time deciding so any thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much

Well you said videography is very important to you so I would pick the 2 videographer package IF it is in your budget. If it is not in your budget I would try to find the money elsewhere and make it happen since it is important to you.

Last thing is change your ring avatar to something else. You will get more responses that way. When you are here long enough, you will understand.

We hired one, but he came with an assistant.

How many guests, and how large of an area?

For only an extra $400, I would say go for the second videographer.

It is in my budget, I just can't decide if it's absolutely a necessity. With one, I obviously will still get coverage, a video, etc. With two though I will get more footage/coverage and essentially a better video (hopefully). He doesn't come with an assistant, so it'd either be 1 videographer with a camera and 1 stationary camera or 2 videographers and 2 cameras.

I changed my avatar, thank you for the tip!

It is a fairly large venue, both the ceremony and reception are in the same location and we are expecting approximately 150-175 guests.

I think you have to weigh how important it is for you. You say its important, so you will probably feel like the cost is worth it. To me, photography was the MOST important so I am having a second shooter. Videography was almost something I cut, but I was able to find a very affordable ($600) videography package from a reputable company for just the time I wanted it (4 hours).

I am having a second shooter as well.. but I still want a videographer to capture the moments that a photographer can't.. I just can't decide if I need 1 or 2..

My videographer package came standard with 2 videographers. I think this will be great so that they can capture certain things they wouldn't be able to without 2, such as both myself and FH getting ready in the morning and multiple angles for the ceremony.

As you said videography is important to both of you so I would recommend 2 videographers. But you need to ask if the 2nd videographer is going to be just stationed there to control the 2nd camera (on/off) or he/she will be moving around with the camera. If he/she will be moving around with the 2nd camera then definitely pay extra for it. Having multiple angles will make your edited video so much better!

I would go with 2. That's what I had and it worked out really well. http://vimeo.com/110931938

Thanks for asking this question. I am considering this as well. Mine is $500 for another videographer and they give you a 1-2 minute highlight video to post online too, which is fun.
