Yes! Best wedding decision we made for sure!! I instantly felt the weight lifted from my shoulders as soon as we signed a contract.

You do not NEED one! However, if you WANT one... then go for it! I'm opting not to have one simply because I love to plan things and I'm a little bit of a control freak. It would drive me bonkers to sit back and let someone else run the show. Also, for me personally, it is a waste of money. My fiancé and I are paying for our wedding ourselves, so we gotta spend our money on the things that are most important to us.

I totally see the benefits of hiring one though. If planning stresses you out and you don't really like making decisions, then perhaps a planner is for you. In this case, if you have the extra money in your budget, then do it!

BEST WISHES TO YOU! Smiley heart

I would do it yourself then. Just stay relaxed do a little at a time. I could not afford one. I Also do not trust people that they would get me the best price. They may choose someone who they worked with before.

You definitely don't need one! If you want one and can afford it then go for it but wedding planning doesn't have to be as hard as some people (mostly wedding planners) make it out to be. We couldn't afford one so I've planned pretty much everyone. Just do a little at a time and follow the checklist and timeline to keep you on track!

A wedding planner is not a necessity.

Totally unnecessary if you have any inkling of being organized and able to reach out to vendors yourself.

    Not necessary.
A day of coordinator might be handy though as they can assist in setting up and corralling vendors and such so you dont have to.

I didn’t have one because we couldn’t afford that. My MOH (sister) and bff matron of honor both helped me immensely.

But in all honesty, I nearly lost my mind. Wedding planning gave me chronic stress and it was a terrible experience for me - planning/financing it on our own, working 2 jobs, dealing with other people’s issues smh, etc. If you can afford a planner DO IT !!! To save your sanity.

I was thinking the same thing as you originally, but found that most if not all of the venues we looked at required a DOC. Most of them are more like a Month of Coordinator ... the actual venue we ended up booking you had to use their DOC, and it was an additional cost. The great thig is, she will be with for the entire time from the time we book to the day of. As I thought more about it, its absolutely the day of your wedding you don't want, you or your bridal party, or a parent worrying about anything other then enjoying the moment!

I don't think it's necessary unless you really don't have time to look into vendors, etc. Otherwise just get a day-of-coordinator! They will help with set up and take down and make the day go smoothly. Our venue includes a DOC so we got lucky that we didn't have to pay extra. When we were looking at venues we saw that a lot of them had that included but some you did have to pay extra for. We asked our photographer and the venue for recommendations on vendors and scheduled all of that ourselves. I think it's really doable on your own but you don't want to be worrying about set up and take down the day of!

They save you a lot of money negotiating prices with vendors! Plus I am also a control freak but my mom was freaking out and said we needed to hire one so she did. Best decision ever! I have everything planned except small things like ceremony decor, welcome bags, timelines but all that can be done closer to the date. I am 6 months out. You don’t lose control when you hire one, you just get to tell someone exactly what you want and have them do it for you and if it’s wrong you tell her again and again until it’s right. I think if you have the budget GO FOR IT!

No, I think you really don't need one. I planned our entire wedding by myself, while also tackling student teaching (basically 65 hour work weeks), college graduation, job searching, moving, and my first year in a career. Our wedding took place 3 hours away from us and I still did it pretty easily. I seriously don't think planners are necessary unless you're having some super elaborate fancy wedding.

I'm using a month of coordinator but I'm doing all the planning myself!
