Do it Yourself Wedding Program

Samantha, on April 26, 2016 at 11:45 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

Hey!

So I found a couple wedding program ideas that I liked on pintrest and made a personalized wedding program for our wedding coming up June 30th!

Its about 7 pages long because we wanted to write personalized shout outs to each person in our wedding party, so I need to do some kind of booklet.

Now I'm at the point of printing and finding some way to bind it that doesn't look terrible!

Any ideas?

7 pages is a little much, personally if i was given a 7 page program at a wedding, i wouldn't read it. Im all for doing what you want to do on your big day, but that seems like a lot of work! We are getting an old window frame and writing about our bridal party on it, so its up and people can read it if they want, and its easy! I have to agree with @elleW it does seem like a playbill.

    7 pages??? Got damn.

I've seen funeral programs with less pages.

K.I.S.S. = keep it simple sweetie (the last s was for something else but it's not nice lol)

ETA: save all that info for the wedding website maybe?

I'm probably doing a program; but 7 pages is a long read. I'd probably stop after the 2nd page.

How do you feel about using ribbon to bind the programs?

Print the pages and score them down the middle so it folds in half, then either use a ribbon in the middle to tie the whole thing together - or make 2 hold punches on the fold and tie a smaller ribbon through those. (including pictures because my written explanation was not the most helpful):

Out of curiosity, what brought it up to 7 pages? Large wedding party? Is your wedding a church wedding where you are providing all of the readings and responses?

To answer your question, I'm not sure if the picture you provided is your program or one from pintrist. I would recommend taking it to a printing place that produces documents and see what they suggest (some Office Max/Depot, or FedEx). If you print back-to-back on 11 x 17 paper that will at least cut down on the amount of pages a person receives. 7 pages versus 4 is a huge difference.

If I got there early, I'd read it all to kill time. I like the ribbon idea. FedEx/Kinkos should be able to help you with this. My grandmas church had a machine that folded the multiple page programs, but there was no binding. Is it 7 pages total or 7 pieces of paper folded in half where it's technically 28 sides if you print front and back?

That's rrreeeaaalllyyyy long. Remember people may leave it or toss it. Save your shot outs for the reception.

The Program is 7 pages because we combined the "So Your Going to Sit Through a Wedding - a Pratical Guide to Not Falling Asleep and Knowing What Exactly is going on" It's a funny guideline - http://offbeatbride.com/funny-wedding-program/

and then in the back we did write ups on each bridesmaid and groomsmen (there are 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen) we put our comments in here so as to shorten our speech during dinner.

I like it! It's your wedding and I feel that your wedding should also reflect your fiancé and yours personality. And if you love it that's all that matters. I also like the ribbon idea Smiley smile

The ribbon idea will be best. Don't stress if it's too much work- put it to the end of the to do list and if you only make a few then it's okay. It's a nice bonus but not necessary.

They make staplers that will staple booklets. I use it at work all the time! Long-reach stapler or something like that?! Smiley smile

Otherwise, punch holes in the middle and tie with ribbon.

Whoa 7 pages?! I think guest would be reading during the wedding instead of paying attention to the ceremony.

I love programs with a lot of detail -yours sounds fabulous! I always want to know more about everyone in the bridal party as it helps make the experience more personal. When my sister got married (19 years ago!) she and her husband had write-ups on the WP and it made me feel really special to get that kind of attention on their big day (not necessary or expected but really lovely of them). Oh, and I like the ribbon idea! Enjoy!

Thank you for all of the help! It seems the consensus is to go with the hole punch ribbon idea. I will have a look around thanks!
