Do my Fonts need to match? (With Pics)

Bailey, on July 31, 2015 at 11:09 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

So I took my invitations to the lady who will be printing the pretty calligraphy looking fonts on them. She made a comment saying she knew what font was on my invitation and she could match it for the envelope. That was great because I had no idea, and those two should match since they're being sent together.

Then I got to thinking... Do all the rest of my fonts in my wedding need to match? Like the font on the Advice cards, Directions cards, Thank You's that we'll send out, ect. Or am I being to matchy and it's okay to have different fonts?

Note: They are all the same color combo's

Pics are of font on my wedding invites then the advice cards I chose

I mean, they don't NEED a to match, but generally it looks better if everything is uniform.

They aren't that different to where i would notice. I only have all mine matching because i bought them from the same etsy shop. otherwise they won't.

I think that if they are being sent as a suite they should have the same fonts but anything that wont be seen sitting next to eachother you dont need to worry too much unless its something that you want. was she trying to get you to order everything together so that it matched? i don't think you need to worry that much.

I always notice and think it's a nice touch when the font is carried through different parts...however I don't think it's necessary that fonts on items at your actual wedding match exactly to the invitation you sent out since it's not likely they'll end up together, you know? I would, and plan to, keep all my wedding venue signage in the same fonts though. The general style will match up with the style of the font I'm using for my invites, but it won't be exact...it could have been but I thought my invitation designer's signage was a little too pricey. I think the two examples you have are just fine since the style is very similar!

@Surfergil 86, no she just mentioned that she could match the envelope font to my invitation and it just got me thinking if they all needed to match.

That will be the only thing seen together, all the other signs will be "here and there" at the wedding/reception.

I don't think they need to match but at the same time, but if they're next to each other, it will look a bit awkward if the fonts are different.

I do my best to match all my fonts, or at least come close depending on what it's on.

Guaranteed there's a font online that will closely match what you have. Likely for free too.

I didnt have the matching font on my envelopes for peoples addresses because it didnt look right, i choose one that was similar but it wasnt exactly the same. I think that if they are really close like the ones that you posted no one would even notice the differences.

Our STD font is slightly different from our invitation font and no one I have shown them too has noticed. I don't think it is a huge deal. Plus, you fonts look very similar.

Ok. I was only worried because I notice that the invitations are more formal script and the advice cards are more fun girly script. But they're both script! So if you'll think they'll be fine as long as they're similar, then I think they're fine and I don't need to change anything.

If they're going in the same envelope, I'd suggest they match, otherwise, those are similar enough.

Hi, which etsy shop did you use? We can't find any that do table numbers, place cards, table cards and sign for guestbook/instructions. Thank you!
