Do Not Disturb Signs

Jasmine, on April 16, 2012 at 11:15 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

I am having the hardest time trying to find a wedding template for the the Do Not Disturb Sign. I would to have one so I can start putting my colors and wording on it. I just can't seem to locate the right place that has them. Do anyone have any suggestions of where I can look or how to DIY? All suggestions/advice is welcomed and appreciated.

I've not seen a template -- I just designed Rack cards from VP myself (and I think that's what the other ladies here have done. I designed mine so that I punched 2 holes in the top and ran a ribbon through them to make the loop for the door handle. Here's what mine looked like (sorry I don't have a pic of the final product with the ribbon).

The other ones I've seen (Marie S and Kimberly, I think) designed theirs to punch a hole in the middle then a cut down to the side for the door handle, which to me is a whole lot easier!

(the teal circles are not needed, I put them there so you would get an idea of where to cut the hole)

I don't know if they make hole punches that big.

You could always take a shot glass, trace it to get the pattern, and then just cut the circle out.

Or... punch two small holes at the top and hang a string through them so the sign hangs on the door from it. (but that would cost more than cutting a hole)

I 99% sure they have them that big at michaels....they're probably $15 (then you can use one of their 50% coupons).

I did the 2 small holes -- as I said above. It was more expensive (although I think I needed 2 spools of $4 ribbon with 40% coupons, so it's not like that $5 broke the bank), but it was EXTREMELY time consuming to tie all the bows, etc to make it look pretty.

The shot glass idea seems even more time consuming than the ribbon idea...but maybe it's just b/c I'm a perfectionist about stuff like that (I wouldn't ever be able to get a perfect circle with scissors).

Mrs Smith, if you drew the cut lines on, just know that one needs to be angled the other way. When you flip them over the line will go in the other direction.

    Or just delete the line.

Yep they make hole punches that big and I have a very very generic template. If you don't feel like buying the big hole punch you can just get the little one at the dollar store and then tie a ribbon thru which is super cute as well.

Feel free to pm me your email addy if you want the template and I'll be happy to emaail it over.
