“Do not play” songs??

Our DJ lets us input all of the songs we want , don’t want and DJ discretion into their system. So far we have do not play- rap songs lol no Bruno Mars, baby shark, sweet Caroline, living on a prayer. I’m sure there’s more.
I have some guests that would love to play rap songs all night if they could request them. I’m a dancer so we are actually going to be pretty picky about songs. We’ve been to a lot of weddings where the song choices are more like songs you’d listen to in the car or shower but not a wedding and it was terrible. We are putting a song request option on our RSVP cards so we’ll see how that turns out.

We have 2 songs that we asked not to be played for different reasons. One brings up unwanted memories and the other is literally his sister's name. But our MC is going over a custom list with us, it's pretty awesome to basically have a wedding soundtrack to playback later.

I haven't formally submitted any to the DJ, but I'm actually thinking Chris Brown as I have not forgiven him for what he did to Rihanna.

I have a whole list, I think there’s about 20 songs on it. I’m very weird about just turning off when a song I don’t like is on.

Yes, me and my fiancé are definitely going to give the dj some songs not to play I feel like it’s appropriate only because half of my family has little children and the other half likes the inappropriate rap songs

We did but it was only 2. we were doing a lot of dance music. pit bull, daddy yankee, mark anthony. stuff like that. so (being from a "hood" place here in NY) i didn't want people requesting two songs that might give my grandma a heart attack lol plus i just dont like them.

other than that he just played my "must play" list. i made sure there was enough on there to cover our reception. no one even requested music that i know of.

Not only am I'm planning my own wedding right now, but I have DJ'd over 70 weddings, and every wedding I've done has had a do not play list. It's not uncommon at all. It's your day, so you should hear what you want, and vice versa.

Yes, there were no “slide” type of 🎶.


Also, a do not play unless in the list that I provided directive.
Why?
Because “it was my party” and I wanted to hear the 🎶 that I paid to hear.

YES. If I hear "truth hurts" one more time I swear I will blow!! Luckily our DJ is a friend of mine (who cut me a hell of a deal) so he already knows I'll have a list of do NOT play lol
