Do not play songs

I saw a thread with playlist must haves, and I'm curious; what songs have you blacklisted from your playlists?

We had a pre wedding before we get married- the DJ was a suggestion from a friend(also a DJ) that couldn’t make it and they paid as a present. We asked the DJ to play specific things (which he didn’t) but realised we definitely needed a list of things not to play.. he played break up songs all the way through the meal and a photo presentation my mum made as a surprise for us!! 😐😫 definitely any break up song is on the blacklist for the wedding

No Michael Jackson, or R Kelly, or any other artists who've raped people is a an easy start...

I would love to say no to the chicken dance, but MIL is begging to have it. Was her departed brother's favorite...so I'm including it for her sake.

No cheating songs, no breaking up songs, no hard rap!
We enjoy the basic line dance songs, it creates group activity and fun.

We didn't specify songs so much as just a do not play anything country and no songs that are line dance type songs.

We are banning songs by any artists who have been credibly accused of sexual abuse, and also songs that are kind of rapey in their lyrics. So, no R Kelly, no Michael Jackson (that one is REALLY hard because I grew up with his music), no "Blurred Lines," and so on.

We also told the DJ to not play songs with gratuitous N words, B words (unless sung by women in a "reclaiming" kind of way), and no anti-gay slurs.

Lastly, I always cry/get really sad when I hear sad songs, even if they are pretty, so none of those.

Haha I’m surprised by all the “no country” responses! I plan on having lots of fun country songs! 😁

For do not play, I need to think about it, but I know I’m vetoing anything Eminem and Lil wayne (sorry, FH!). I can’t stand Lil Wayne and Eminem’s music is too angry for a happy occasion. Lol

That's so bizarre. You're at a wedding which is about people being together, definitely not an appropriate choice. I'm sorry that happened to you, and I hadn't thought of that so I'm definitely putting those on my list now too.

I agree with these choices as well. Those songs are inappropriate for the setting and occasion.

I think line dances help get people on the dance floor.

I’m having a celtic band so I don’t have to worry too much about this but I’m blacklisting Danny Boy. NO funeral songs! 😰

    These are all sensible decisions.

On what is to be the happiest day of your life, sad songs seem out of place; even if they are pretty.
