DO NOT REGISTER WITH SEARS!

Noelle, on February 16, 2012 at 1:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

My fiancé and I picked Sears because that is the only thing available where we live and where our out of town family live, so we figured it was a good idea... BIG MISTAKE!

We originally drove an hour to get to the Sears to register, we walked around for 45 minutes until we found a manager who proceeded to tell us we couldn't register in store it was all online, (which we just found out was not true) so we drove back home to do it on the internet.

We have gotten several multiples of gifts. Guests have gone into the store to buy items and associates say they manual take it off the registry and they don't.

We have the option of guests sending gifts straight to us . . . we have gotten gifts with NO FROM ADDRESS or information at all so we had no idea who it came from or anything. We had the hardest time tracking it down and finally had to get the persons credit card name that paid. Thank goodness they didn't pay in cash.

We have complained FOUR times now and it has gotten us now

You should specify from what Sears, cause my brother did his registry through Sears in Ottawa, and didn't have a problem. And I went straight in to the store (South Western Ontario) and had the best sales associate, they even have two girls that deal only with registry at the sears here.

Actually, if you read my post, we did not go through a Sears store. We registered through Sears.com and have had problems all the way up through Corporate Sears.

Well that has been what is so frustrating. We have some guests in Western New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey . . . between going online and going in stores no one seems to care.

When you are planning a wedding, the registry is something that shouldn't be SO stressful. We did another test yesterday ourselves and bought something off the registry exactly as they told us to and it STILL didn't show up as "purchased." We started manually deleting items as we get gifts just to avoid any more headache.

The first person I talked to said her best suggestion was to "ask my guests what they got me" so I can just delete it myself, but what's the point of registering to make it easy for people if it's just more stressful on myself?

Not sure if this will shed any light but i'm from WNY, and I'm fairly certain that our Sears and K-Mart Stores are staying open for the time being so they employee's should be dilligent enough to take items off the registry.

I'm just writing this to try to save other brides from a headache. We have seen several online reviews that say to stay away from Sears. We tried anyway but didn't quite work out :-/ Our guests have been just as frustrated as much as we have.

No Target in WNY (at least Jamestown) :-( I wish they would get one! . . . only things where we live in NJ and where half our guests live are Walmart, JCP, Sears.

I forgot to mention the fact that I could not return my gift from my bridal shower as I was not given a gift receipt and was not comfortable asking for a receipt, and it wasnt even in my wedding registry. It's unfortunate that sears could not help me with this return as I already have this item and not in need of it
