Do the Groom and the Groomsmen have to match the Bride and the bridesmaids?

Rachel, on January 20, 2015 at 4:29 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 4

Help, I am having so much trouble with this.

My Fiance and i are wanting to have a simple wedding with the signature colors of The Joker and Harley Quinn Because we are super nerds, and I'm wanting to have Red, Green, and Purple In my bouquet and the bridesmaids to wear black dresses and my Man of Honor to wear a black tux with a Red tie. On the Groom, we would like for him to wear a Black tux with Green tie and Purple Boutonniere and for the Groomsmen To wear a Black tux with Purple ties and Green Boutonnieres.

I'm at a lost right now any help would be highly appreciated!

Hmmm it sounds cool, but the only thing that sounds a little out of place is your man of honor in the red tie. People might think that your man of honor is the groom since he's the one in the most unique color. The man of honor and groomsmen don't have to match but they usually coordinate, so I could see your groomsmen in the purple ties and green bouts, and the man of honor in the opposite, with your groom in red.

However, I'm guessing your groom wants the purple and green. So in that case I would put your groomsmen in purple tie with green bout, your man of honor with green tie and purple bout, and your FH in maybe a white vest, purple and green striped tie (if you can find one), and a white pocket square. Usually white makes the groom stand out a little. Then let red come out in your flowers and the bridesmaid flowers. I would also think a little pop of color for the girls would be nice, like a sash or flower in their hair or necklaces.

My last idea is you could keep it the way you have it, just have the groomsmen wear a red pocket square matching the man of honor's tie, and have the man of honor wear a purple pocket square to tie in a little more.

I do think three very bold colors are hard to do together, and I think to make the groom stand out then white is always nice to add.

Brides maids and grooms men dont have to match but having the man of honor being the only one in a whole different color set i think it will throw people off. Perhaps leave the grooms colors alone but incorporate green red and purple into the man of honors outfit by adding say a stripped tie or somthing and then leaving the red out for the other grooms men?

I second everything Happy in Hawaii said. I think it sounds like a really cool concept! Very carnival.
