Do you check in with your fiancé(e) before making a big purchase and vice versa? Never, always or sometimes?

Next Question: Do you ever creep through your fiance(e)'s phone?

Yes, we definitely talk to each other about all big purchases. Like the other ladies said, unless it's a surprise or gift.

Yes! This was huge when we joined accounts. Generally if it’s over $50 we at least let other know we plan on buying it.....unless it’s a gift.

Not always. We have separate bank accounts and a joint account. As long as our bills are paid, what he does with his money and I what I do with mine doesn't need an "ok" from the other. That said, we rarely make big purchases and I tell him everything I buy anyhow.

Usually I TELL him, but we each have our own money, so I don't ask permission unless its coming out of our shared savings, and as long as the bills are getting paid and there is food in the fridge I quite honestly don't care what he spends his money on and vise versa.

All large purchases we have had we made together so there wasn't really anything to check in with.

Always! It is our money and it would be unfair to not check with him. Unless it comes out of our "fun" money, which is our personal account and is similar to an allowance.

That's great! I feel like if it's shared money, I would let them know as well!

Totally agree! If it's your own money, you can spend it however you would like!

Yes, always. I give him a run down on what I spent from our joint account at the stores, just out of respect. But I don't really shop that much, aside from grocery shopping

Yes, we discuss every purchase that we make, just to make sure it's something we really want and need or I'd it's just an impulse buy..

Uhhh, I don’t believe so. We have separate accounts and then a joint account for bills. We have the same days off so we shop together. For example, we just bought a 72 inch TV 📺 Had I not been there, I wouldn’t have expected him to check in with me. He used our Costco credit card 💳 & we’ll split the bill.

Right now we have completely separate accounts so he has no reason to check with me. Once we are married, we will have our main account for billing and such, but we agreed to have our own separate accounts for our own money to put whatever agreed upon percentage of our paycheck on. That way, it doesn’t feel like I’m buying him Christmas gifts with his money. If he buys a big expense with his own account then he in no way needs to check with me. But if he makes a huge purchase in our account meant for billing, I would hope he would at least run it by me first

Sometimes - but only if it's a really big purchase! We have more of a monetary limit in place, so check-in if you're spending over $X

Always, unless it would be some type of gift. Any big purchases we've made we've gone to the store to buy it together

Depends on the purchase. We have our own spending money so if it's something that I can afford on my own I usually just go for it.
