Do you check in with each other before making a big purchase?

Do you check in with your fiancé(e) before making a big purchase and vice versa? Never, always or sometimes? Next Question: Do you ever creep through your fiance(e)'s phone? Back to the Beginning: Never, Always or Sometimes?

Almost always. The exception to this is when I had to buy a new wedding dress because the first one I bought was the wrong size and it could not be altered out.

I feel like that's how it should be, when I took a personal finance class they said that rent will probably be your biggest expense! I need to learn your ways, I'm always splurging Smiley xd

Such a good point! I know that my parents went through the same thing where my dad was feeling the same way! That's awesome that you all have such good communication with it all!

That's a good way to go about it, if the rent and bills are being paid then go ahead and treat yourself every once in a while!

We go over budgets together, so big or large we are informed about what is going on.

More or less...there's no set dollar amount or anything. Definitely if it's something big for the house. Once he bought rims for his car and didn't tell me, and I think he was worried about me being mad. We still have our own accounts and that won't change, but we definitely communicate about money.

Always, we check in with each other often about finances and are very much on the same page on where and when to spend a little extra cash.

Yes! We don't seek approval from the other person (I mean if it was something that's like $2000 I would ask him to think about it if it isn't a necessity, but that's on the extreme end). We just want to let the other person know!

Absolutely. Despite having separate accounts, we both want to make sure we're communicating around this. Kidding, we even let each other know if it's a smaller but regular payment (such as monthly subscriptions). If it would be a surprise/gift (such as Christmas or Birthdays), then we usually have an agreed upon price point. Very rarely would surprises go above $50 anyways.

Always!!! We are great budgeters and savers. We have all of our finances combined, and have had it that way since before being married.

I have always talked to him about things like purchasing things big or small, or even for my/our kids, but throughout our dating life he has made big purchases without talking to me or getting my input on them, until after he has already bought said item. All I could really ever say though was it was his money his decisions because we never merged our money into 1 account yet.

I handle all of the bills and accounts, so he trusts my decisions, but I still like to run stuff by him as the financial provider and just so he knows what’s going on in our lives.

No we sure don't! I'm a stay at home parent so my big spending is maybe $20 on essentials. Him on the other hand, tools lol

Every time, well. I kind of have to... he deals with all the money stuff. I live on military disability and to avoid having to deal with those issues, i just have my check direct deposited into his account. Dont get me wrong here though, he gives me almost everything i want.

Always. We currently have separate bank accounts, but we are struggling with money so we just share all the money.

We actually have mad money from each pay check we can blow or save so if him or I want to save it and spend it on something big, that entirely our own decisions, however it’s not like we don’t talk about our big plans (IE I spend 2 K on makeup and he went with me to help find everything on my list lol)

But if it is from the joint, we discuss in depth and have to be at a complete understanding and agreement before something is spent.
