Do you get seasick on cruise ships?

I have never been on one and have heard plenty of people say "the boat is so big you don't get sick", but is this really true? I get sick anytime I go on a boat...can anyone share their experience?

I was slightly sea sick on my cruise this past July but only when I was sitting still in FIL's suite on the bow of the ship as we were up and down a bit in the choppy water from a tropical storm that was whipping up the Caribbean. A seasick tablet and one of the wristband things solved it easily. Normally I don't get seasick unless there is a bobbing motion and I am sitting still.

I agree with Rosie. Ginger tablets are inexpensive and NOT medication. I tried the patch on my first cruise and turned out to be allergic to it. Now I take the ginger a few times a day and have NEVER been sick in over a dozen cruises. Friends have used the seabands with much success also.

Oy, my suspicions were confirmed. We haven't booked anything but there are such great cruise deals! I have such a sensitive system (1 cup of coffee makes me naseous and sweat), that I'm nervous I might react badly to the meds and worried ginger won't be strong enough. Only one way to find out I guess, but maybe I don't want to risk it for the honeymoon. Thanks Everyone.

I got seasick on our first few travels. But I felt alright on the following trips. Being cautious, I will keep some medicines to stay away from it. When we went for our last cruise vacation with blount small ship adventures, they gave us some natural tips to get rid of sea sickness. It really worked.

As someone who gets sick having her hubby drive around the block...ginger and sea bands are a God send to me, and do the trick every time. I also own a motion sickness band I purchased through Sharper Image that is amazing, and requires watch batteries. I don't take a chance anymore on medication, as it could ruin your entire cruise due to possible side effects.

I get seasick each and every time I'm going on a cruise or even sometimes when I'm in car. Its true that cruise ships dont give everybody sea sickness because of their size, but unfortunately i'm not part of those people Smiley sad.

I tried almost everything, from common drugs like dramamine and also a few kind of wrist bands. The drugs did helped me in some cases but their side effects were pretty awful. as for now I'm using a product called 'motion cure' that i found on Amazon and it really helps me!. It seems that it works in a different way than all the other solution out there.

Enjoy your cruises and good luck!
