We plan on having FHs sister be a reader during our ceremony & I wanted my sister to read something also bc she is a BM & my other sister is the MOH, so I feel like having her read something to make her equally special...what are your readers reading?!

My FSIL will be doing out reading. We have two that we need to decide between.

    The One

When the one whose hand you're holding

Is the one who holds your heart

When the one whose eyes you gaze into

Gives your hopes and dreams their start

When the one you think of first and last

Is the one who holds you tight

and the things you plan together

Make the whole world seem just right

When the one whom you believe in

Puts their faith and trust in you

You've found the one and only love

You'll share your whole life through

The other is called "Blessing of the Hands" http://www.myweddingvows.com/romantic-readings/blessing-of-the-hands

We're not having readers but my cousin is officiating and I told him to take us to church. We're going to sit so he can take his time. I can't wait!

I don't know if you're interested in having bible verses read, but we chose Song of Songs 8:6-7 and Colossians 3:12-17. We picked bible verses because we're having a very traditional, religious ceremony, but we wanted something other than just the Corinthians verse.

Our ceremony will be short and simple so we didnt really want/need readers but 2 out of 3 of my sisters kids will have a "job" at our wedding so I decided to have my niece (the one w/out a "job") read a very short poem right before the ring ceremony.

Wear this ring in health because you have healed me.

Wear it in joy because you have made my heart glad.

Wear it in peace because you have brought me serenity.

Wear it in bliss because you have brought me true grace.

Wear this ring as a reminder that I love you every single day of your life.

Short sweet and to the point. Love it!

We are having 1 reading by my best friend/BM ... I asked her to pick something out - Whatever she wanted Smiley smile This is what she picked!!

Ever wonder why God gives us two? – by Khalil Gibran

Ever wonder why God gives us two?

A right hand to show the left what to do.

One ear to listen and one to hear

    the problems of others,

    their laughter and fears.

One eye to watch and one to behold

    the beautiful treasures

    that life has to hold.

One foot to travel and one to stand tall.

Two feet to land on if we should fall.

    One man to stand by a woman’s side;

One woman to cherish being his bride.

    The love between partners

    comes shining through

    and that is the reason

    God has made two.

Shawna G ... We are doing the "Blessing of the Hands" too - I loved it so much that I incorporated it into the ceremony right between our marriage vows & the exchanging of rings!!

My nephew read this at our wedding:

    From The Irrational Season

    By Madeleine L'Engle

But ultimately there comes a moment when a decision must be made. Ultimately two people who love each other must ask themselves how much they hope for as their love grows and deepens, and how much risk they are willing to take. It is indeed a fearful gamble. Because it is the nature of love to create, a marriage itself is something which has to be created, so that, together we become a new creature.

To marry is the biggest risk in human relations that a person can take.If we commit ourselves to one person for life this is not, as many people think, a rejection of freedom; rather it demands the courage to move into all the risks of freedom, and the risk of love which is permanent; into that love which is not possession, but participation. It takes a lifetime to learn another person. When love is not possession, but participation, then it is part of that co-creation which is our human calling.

Ooh I LOVE that idea of where to incorporate the blessing of hands. I was thinking I'd have the officiant read one of the two as well but hadn't thought of that. I love it, great idea ladies!

We did the traditional 1 Corinthians 13 (my favourite passage, really the only thing we did that is 'over-done', but it was important to me). And my brother read I Like You.

I like you and I know why

I like you because you are a good person to like

I like you because when I tell you something special, you know it's special

And you remember it a long, long time

You say, Remember when you told me something special

    And both of us remember

When I think something is important you think it's important too

    We have good ideas

When I say something funny, you laugh

I think I'm funny and you think I'm funny too

    Hah-hah!

I like you because you know where I'm ticklish

And you don't tickle me there except just a little tiny bit sometimes

But if you do, then I know where to tickle you too

You know how to be silly - that's why I like you

If I am getting ready to pop a paper bag,

then you are getting ready to jump

    HOORAY

I like you because when I am feeling sad

You don't always cheer me up right away

Sometimes it is better to be sad

You can't stand the others being so googly and gaggly every single minute

You want to think about things

    It takes time

I like you because if I am mad at you

Then you are mad at me too

It's awful when the other person isn't

They are so nice and oooh you could just about punch them on the nose

    I can't remember when I didn't like you

It must have been lonesome then

Even if it was the 999th of July

    Even if it was August

Even if it was way down at the bottom of November

I would go on choosing you

And you would go on choosing me

    Over and over again

And that's how it would happen every time
