Do you have to have a cake topper?

Z, on February 19, 2010 at 8:56 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 19

I don't know why but I just don't care about this little detail and don't want to spend 30-50 bucks on it. Haven't found any cheap ones I'd want either. Anyone skipping the cake topper?

I haven't found any I really like either so I'm planning on using flowers on top.

We are doing pies rather then a cake...so not going to have one anyways. But even if we did have a cake...I prolly would have skipped it anyways.

We're getting ours from www.orientaltrading.com. They do personalizations and their prices are very reasonable. They also have a full line of decorations and favors, a lot of those that can be personalized as well.

We are using the pedestals from cakes kissed by light from the knock shoppe.(the celestial collection) So we're not using any cake topper, maybe some flowers around the bottom. I've look at a lot of cake toppers and none of them seem to fit my wedding style.

Its strictly your choice, however if you want a cake topper of a bride and groom that is worth every dime - check out Renellie - detailed and really beautiful. Make sure that the flowers (if fresh) are edible and double check with the baker on what you can use.

If you like any of the wire or metal monograms, you could dress it up with a few flower buds depending on what flowers you are using. I've seen the monograms for a few dollars at places like Micheal's and Hobby Lobby

We are doing cupcakes so we don't need one, but I found one (etsy I think) that is a bride dragging the groom who is reaching for a football helmet with the Dallas Cowboy star on it. It will be a surprise for him, as well as the cowboy garter!

My cake will look like Christmas presents with a giant bow on top instead of a topper. I found a picture of a similar cake that used bride and groom Pez dispensers in front of the cake but I don't think I'll go that route.

I did originally want a crystal cake topper but now I'm not sure. I may just go with fresh flowers on top. I've seen so many cakes with flowers on top and they look great!!
