Do you Include Wedding Planner at Tasting?

I only had a day-of coordinator, not a planner, so maybe I can’t give a 100% accurate picture, but I would think the only reason a planner would need to be there is if you desire her opinion on the food or if the caterer will tell her about the serving plans, dishes, utensils, etc while at the meeting. Even then, I would think just the couple’s opinion on the food matters, and the planner can just call your caterer to ask about the plan for serving and place settings. Have you asked her directly what the benefits are of having her there and why her past clients have included her?

She doesn't need to be there. I'd save her in person services for things that matter such as venue walk throughs

We didn’t. We only spoke to blank slate venues and looked at caterers who did not require a signed contract with deposit before tasting, and that helped us determine which had better food as well. We chose to hire a month of coordinator so all of the food and venue stuff was taken care of long before she was hired. There is no reason they need to attend.
