Do you reuse your champagne flutes?

Private User, on January 31, 2015 at 5:23 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I registered for some reasonably priced but still fancy toasting flutes for us to use at the wedding. I was planning on using them at least on our anniversary every year. But I'm also hearing that most people don't, and that they wish they hadn't registered for something pricey but impractical. I stopped by Hobby Lobby and bought a set for $20 and am thinking about just using these and taking the fancy ones off of my registry. Any insights, past and future brides?

    We bought some fancy Harry Potter ones (because we're dorks like that), but they're not like over-the-top pricey or even fancy. They just have a quote written on them. I think it was worth it because we will use it on our anniversary, and they're close enough to a regular champagne flute that if we have more guests over than flutes we can use them then, too. But since you already got some from Hobby Lobby I'd nix the ones on your registry, and then you can get something you'll really use a lot as a gift instead!

    We are going to use personalized champagne glasses. Since they're on your registry, there's no guarantee that someone will buy them for you anyway. I say go for the less expensive ones.

    @Catie, I NEED to see these HP flutes!!!!

    But, in answer to the original question, we're going to toast with whatever we're drinking from. FH doesn't like champagne (I can drink it like water!!) so we're not going to purchase anything special for the toast. If he were a champs drinker too then I'd be with Miss to Mrs and get the ones with our name/date on it.

    We may not ever use our flutes or knife set but FMIL wanted to buy them for us and gave me a list of ones I liked then shipped them

    They were the Vera wang duchess ones and we love them

    It's a nice memento if you have it

    I bought reproductions of 16th century leather goblets from the Tower of London and we used those. We'll use them (and our cake server) on our anniversary.

    I got ours from Personal Creations. They are not traditional. More like drinking glasses. I'm too afraid stemmed ones would break easily! I also got our Cake Serving set there as well. I used a 20% off coupon

    I have champaign flutes and use them frequently, not necessarily for champaign, but for juice too. They are pretty so I use them.

    We got so many personalized Mr. & Mrs. glasses. I wouldn't buy any for myself since people like to give these as gifts.

    @Catie- I LOVE those!

    We're not champagne drinkers either. I found some cool Green Bay Packers wine glasses on Amazon that I'm debating on. Yes, we're both Packers fans. The B&B we're planning on staying at has a romance package complete with flutes, and we may use those. Not sure. I say go with the Hobby Lobby ones.

    I bought champagne glasses that said bride and groom and a cake server/knife (its a cake server with a serated edge with a small off white bow glued to it) when i married my late husband, in 1995, with the intention of using them every year on our anniversary, but alas i never used them again.i just found them this weekend in a box in my hutch.. haha didnt even know they were in there!) and im just going to use them again this time. Hats off to you who are using them, youre a better wife and bride than me! Lol ps i found a blue gater that apparently i didnt use, so im going to wear that too! :-)

    I'm so glad I found this thread! I know it's been years, but The Knot just posted an article about things you shouldn't put on your registry. "Items you'll use at the wedding" was on it. And that baffled me. I've seen plenty of people register for servers and flutes, so I added a pair from Fellowship Foundry (a pewter company that used to be at our local ren faire - where we met) that would be perfect for us as a couple, but also go with our nature/Beltane theme. They're pricey, but worth it! If we don't have them by the wedding, it's fine, we'll still use them and the venue can provide us our glasses. No big. I was just concerned about registering for them and looking tacky. Thanks for setting my mind at ease!!
