Do you still wear your engagement ring post-wedding?

My fiance and I are picking out bands, and I was torn between getting a band that specifically matches the engagement ring (or bumper bands) or one that stands alone.

FH put a lot of thought into choosing my engagement ring, so I would like to wear it along with the band that I got to pick out for myself. I chose one to go well with the engagement ring.

I wear my engagement ring as my wedding ring with no band. It might not be traditional way, but I already felt like the ring was a bit flashy for me without a band. Not to mention it's his grandmother's wedding ring. Smiley smile

I don't plan on wearing my engagement ring after we get married. I never planned on it, since I am not much of a jewelry person, so I am just going to get a plain band. Oddly enough most married women I know only wear a wedding band.

I would think that it was waste to spend so much on an engagement ring and then not wear it. Mine are soldered together.

My mom only wears her engagement ring, as do a number of women I know. I don't think she even has a wedding band. I'm strongly considering doing the same because I'm very picky about the look and feel of jewelry and don't like anything overpowering but I love the look of the engagement ring. Plus it saves some money so bonus.

We got a Neil Lane bridal set which was the engagement ring and a matching wedding band but the band can be worn alone. I plan to wear both except for when doing things that I don't want the big diamond getting in the way. We're also looking at getting the rubber wedding bands also for when we go on trips and stuff.

My engagement ring is beautiful - my band is too, i picked it out, but its little and simple. i couldn't imagine not wearing my gorgeous engagement ring. this is what both rings will look like together after our wedding. i definitely plan on wearing both, all the time.

ignore how cloudy the center stone is here... morganite does that and i hadn't cleaned it before i took this picture! lol

I don't know anybody who just stopped wearing their engagement ring once they were married. An engagement ring and wedding band are a set. When I was in the military the rule for wearing rings was one ring per hand, with the exception of wedding bands and engagement rings that were considered one ring. My engagement ring was thoughtfully designed by FH using his great grandmother's diamond and my son's birthstone. There is no way I would stop wearing this ring even though I'm not much of a jewelry person. I love my engagement ring, and what it means, and how much thought and love went into creating it.

My engagement ring is part of my set, so I still wear it! It’s totally up to you which band you want to go with though, I’d suggest trying on the different styles in a store and seeing which one you like best.

I think my FH would kill me if I stopped wearing the engagment ring after the wedding. All that money! The engagment ring is the star of the show. Who cares about the wedding band? Wear both.

I don't know anyone who doesn't wear their engagement ring after marriage, with the exception of when they are working with their hands. My FH proposed with a Rolex, so I will continue to wear that daily, but the first time i get to put wedding ring on will be after the vows. Smiley smile

MY engagement ring was an extremely expensive piece of jewelry so I 100% plan to wear it after we get married - I mean maybe not after 10 years - but why would you not wear an important, significant and pricey piece of jewelry that is specifically bought to be worn every day.

I understand if you work in a field where it isn't practical - like being a nurse or something along those lines but if you have the ability to its seems like a waste.

I mostly wear both--we made our wedding rings so i designed the band so it would sit well with my e-ring, which is a vintage setting of sapphire and diamonds. when i'm teaching yoga i just wear my band because i'm neurotic about scratching a student with the setting on my e-ring, but mostly i love wearing both because each reminds me of an amazing moment in our lives together.

I plan to get a matching wedding ring. My fiance spent time and money and had my engagement ring specially made for me, I really only think I would stop if we decided to give my engagement ring to like one of our children or grand children to get engaged.

My engagement ring isn’t a traditional e-ring, so it was nearly impossible to find a wedding band that would fit flush to it (unless I wanted it custom made which was going to cost more than the e-ring, no thanks!) I decided I just wanted a band for my left that he would put on when we got married, and I would wear my e-ring on my right hand. I love it! And I love that H can get me stackable anniversary bands too!
