Do you still wear your engagement ring post-wedding?

My fiance and I are picking out bands, and I was torn between getting a band that specifically matches the engagement ring (or bumper bands) or one that stands alone.

I love my engagement ring. Yes I still wear mine. He spent a small fortune on it, so I better be wearing it. I also don’t see the point in just wearing the band- But to each her own. I have a pear double halo sapphire and I adore it. My rings are also soldered together to be one ring.

Since the wedding, I always wear both of my rings together. My engagement ring and wedding band match and they look beautiful together. I love to wear both of them together.

My grandmas never wore their wedding bands or engagement rings. My mom had hers both soldered together and wears it every single day no matter what. I'm not getting a wedding band. I have a promise band from a year into our relationship that I'll wear with my engagement ring after the wedding and maybe at year 1 or 5 we'll buy another band to stack with it. I really like the stacked look and like the flexibility. My fingers swell so much and I work in a rough environment so most days I wear a rubber ring from Qalo.

Right now I absolutely wear both rings. E-ring is an heirloom, and my band is diamond and sapphire that I love and often wear alone (when travelling, running, lifting at the gym etc). I would never solder them together.

I think eventually my e-ring will wind up in a safe deposit box since it is already over 70 years old and I will probably pass it down to another in the family in the future. Everyone I know under the age of 70 wears both wedding band and engagement ring. Only people I know that only wear their bands are my grandmas.

Love this thread. I never wore rings prior to getting engaged (we are getting married next year), and I'm searching for wedding bands and having the same dilemma. My e-ring doesn't have a very high setting so if I want my wedding band to lie flush with it I'll need to get a curved band but then I think it will look odd on it's own.

Before getting my e-ring resized I purchased an inexpensive simple, low profile ring to wear to test out the ring size and so I'd have something to wear while my e-ring was at the jeweler. I found this much simpler plain band easier to wear on a daily basis. I LOVE the look of my e-ring but I use my hands a lot and find myself banging/brushing the stone constantly. I suspect that once married I'll prefer to just wear the wedding band most of the time and will only wear my e-ring for special occasions, so I'm leaning towards getting a wedding band that will still compliment and pair well with my e-ring, but that will stand on its own fine as well. My mom never had an engagement ring (just a wedding band), so just wearing my wedding band will also be a nod to my parents as well.

I think it really depends on you. I'm an active person, use my hands a lot, and remove my e-ring daily for working out, house chores, parts of my work day, showering, and sleeping, so I would feel totally comfortable just wearing my wedding band (or a silicone band, or no band at all), especially because it would reduce the possibility of losing my e-ring whenever I remove it during the middle of the day. Most married women I work with wear both of their rings all the time, but more of my friends (who have active lifestyles as well) will lean towards just wearing their wedding ring. If you think you'll wear both rings most of the time, I'd get a wedding band that compliments and focuses attention on your e-ring, but if you see yourself wearing just your wedding band often I'd pick out a design that stands out on its own.

Mostly everyone I know wears their engagement ring with their wedding band. I do know some older people who don't wear their engagement rings. But I really think it's all about preference and what you're comfortable with. In terms of getting a band that matches your engagement ring what I will say about that is I opted to get a straight band with diamonds that isn't a bumper band with the intention of being able to wear it on it's own. I very rarely wear the wedding band alone. I have a rubber band that I tend to wear when I'm doing something where I don't want to wear my diamond (like when I travel or go swimming or something). In retrospect, I wish I had gotten the bumper band to match my engagement ring. I think it's all about your preference and what you feel most comfortable doing.
