Do you sweat the small stuff?

Are you one to worry about the little things? Are you driving yourself crazy over tiny details like personalized napkins and wedding-themed stamps? Are you innocent or guilty of sweating the small stuff? Next Question: Do you check your countdown every day?

I'm not guilty of this but my mom is! She's a detail-oriented person by nature so she's helping with some of the small stuff and he has been all about the details like napkins and custom hand towels for the bathroom at the venue. She even asked if we wanted tissue paper in our wedding colors for the welcome hotel bags. And we are doing a basket of toiletries in the bathroom (hair spray, mints, hair ties, etc) and she texted me the other day asking if I wanted plain hair ties or sparkly ones and then what kind of mints did I want? It's tough because she's retired and can literally just focus on this stuff while I am going nuts at work trying to get everything done before I'm out for a few weeks for the wedding/ honeymoon. Like literally the color hair ties in our toiletry basket is the least of my worries. It is nice that she cares so much though!

Innocent! I told myself from the beginning that if I didn’t have a strong opinion about it or I didn’t get excited about it then it wasn’t important. So those little things I either cut them from the day altogether or let my wedding planner choose whatever the cheapest option is haha.

Thank you Smiley smile When I feel stress coming on, I drop everything I'm doing and I go on a walk and listen to music. It helps me clear my mind. I hope this helps.

An awful lot of things in articles and checklists are details neither of us gave a hoot about. We had both been in and helped plan multiple weddings before. One thing that we quickly found out about each other while planning: we had a similar philosophy. Is anybody going to remember or care, 20 minutes after the wedding? If not, unless one of us desperately wants it, don't bother. We were thrilled with our wedding as it happened, and with all of the pictures. We spent just under 12 K of our 15K saved up, for 157 plus WP. And ended up with the rest as extra, for a mini moon, and a few formal dresses , show tickets, real splurges. Nice, since we did not take our honeymoon for 3½months. Best, I felt it was found money, not that we scrimped and saved. Never missed favors, or anything with our names on it. No particular color scheme. We wanted to make the space in an old but not historic Inn look elegant, beautiful. So we took our cues for colors of each room and any accessories from that. Being more flexible about color saved a ton of matching details, and a lot of money. I was surprised, having followed the budget closely for 2 people with no close by family when MOH in their weddings. Those must have details really inflate prices. So no obsessive details was near stress free, and budget friendly. We had a not quite 5 month engagement, and no planning at all before. So both having finished grad school and started new jobs, and moved states, the month we got engaged. So we were ready for a low stress time.

    Meh.
I had a BM tell me she'd have to add straps to her dress, thus making it different from the other BM dresses. But only if it was okay with me. (Are you sure? Ita no big deal! If you say no I wont add the straps!)
I told her she could come in naked with a leaf on the front and another on the back and its still be okay with me 😂

That is a great alternative to stressing, for sure haha! And seems like a really good idea. I have a hard time with dropping everything at times but it's definitely necessary to keep things in perspective. Smiley heart Thanks for sharing!

I think the only "detail" that would be considered small was... I had a pretty big freak out and demanded that we spend extra money on chairs I didn't hate. Like I know that no one would have cared about the chairs... but I was in hate with them lol

Innocent. I'm not too concerned with the stuff I probably won't remember.

It's not where i'd like it to be. I have to wait until the beginning of the year until income taxes come back so I have the money to pay for stuff. For now i'm just doing a lot of looking online to get ideas of what I want, so when the funds come in i'm hoping it'll be smoother. I have a notebook and stuff pinned on Pinterest!

That's a great plan, Laura! Smiley heart Starting to look at all the details now and having a strong vision of what you want will set you up to be ready to plan everything accordingly, when the time comes! Smiley heart & Pinterest is such a great tool and it's very smart of you to stay organized with a notebook!
