Do you think a corset back would be okay?

HalloweenBride, on August 21, 2013 at 1:50 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

So I love my dress, it fits pretty well, I was planning on losing some weight, but something has happened and I may gain a few pounds from now until the wedding. Out of my control. I'm wondering if I can put a corset back in this dress easily, and not have it look out of place. I have this beautiful belt that I'm going to wear, but the belt is a stretchy back and snaps so I'm worried it might cut off the corset back and look odd but I need to do something to ensure my dress fits in two months.

Pictures are the gown, and then my belt. I don't want to sew the belt in, because it was $100 and I want to be able to use it afterwards.

I don't think it would look bad. Find a seamstress in your area and take the dress to them and ask their opinion. I have seen others wear corset wedding dresses with an added belt and it looked fine. Smiley smile I also have heard of brides gaining weight after getting their dress and having to replace their zipper with a corset. So it can be done. I love your dress BTW - very pretty!

Thank you! I've already taken it to a lady and had it bustled, I thought I was done and had it back! But the possibility of weight gain has me worried!

They can do it i want a corset back on my dress all they will do is sew the belt on and cut it so you still have the belt but you can see all the corset back.

If you don't want the belt cut and sewn on it, maybe they can loop it through the corset back? I have a visual in my head but I can't explain it very well...

I LOVE my corset! I can gain weight, it will fit; I can lose weight and it will fit. I say go for it! As for the belt, you can wear it as is. I've seen many corset dresses that come with belts that are not attached. You will be beautiful and comfortable!

I have no idea if it'll look good (I'm sure it would be fine) but that dress is gorgeous!

The back of my dress is just a zip up back, looks like the front pretty much.

My dress has a corset back and I am adding a sash to it that ties. It does not look out of place at all. This is not the dress I choose (similar) but in this picture I have the sash tied on it. Although your sash is black you could always change the corset strings to black as well.

I'm having my belt sewn into my dress so it won't take away from the corset back.

Anniebell, my belt was $100 and I want to wear it again, otherwise I would, but I can't justify ruining it.

I may have the corset laces black. But I better put the corset it just to be safe with my possible weight gain.
