Do you wear your wedding/ engagement ring all the time?

Kristen, on February 24, 2016 at 3:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 68

I always take off my ring when I get home and put it on when I go out. I'm worried about damaging my diamond with cleaning, showering, banging it around and I just don't feel comfortable sleeping with it on and snagging my sheets and pillows.

However, would it be ok to wear my wedding band all the time? It has diamond around the top of the band but it doesn't snag, what do you guys do, because there are times I run out to walmart or I'm late for work and I forget my ring and my hand feels naked all day.

Yes. I never take it off. If I did the poor thing would be a goner.

ETA; FH made sure he picked one that wouldn't catch on anything. He's heard me complain about that with other rings/jewelry before. I could see how that could get annoying. Maybe after wedding just wear the band, and pick something that wont do that.

It's really, really hard to damage a diamond. Go ahead, try it.

I wear mine 24/7. The only times I take it off would be swimming in a large body of water (it's an heirloom, so it's not the price of replacing it, it's the sentiment).

I even wear mine when butchering animals.

Mine's also as low-set as possible though, he wanted it flat flat flat to my finger, and I'm so glad. I can't have a regular wedding band but I never notice it's on, it catches on NOTHING.

I wear it on an emily c ring holder necklace when i'm at work. im a hair stylist so i reeeally dont wanna risk it when im working with color and have my hands in water, shampoo, and hair all day. i take it off at night and put it in its box and dont wear it when i shower.

.. its actually rarely on my finger, now that i think about it. but its on my necklace pretty much always, save for when i sleep!

The only time I take mine off is when I'm in the shower or in a body of water. Other than that, it's always on!

I wearing my wedding band (no stones) all the time unless I'm at the gym, and I take my engagement ring off when I get home from work.

I only wear mine when I leave the house. And since I've been married, I only wear my wedding band.

The only time I ever take it off is when I shower and use hair product like hair spray that doesn't just rinse off.

I usually take mine off right when I get home from work. Depends on the day, sometimes I forget and just leave it on until bed time. I don't sleep with it on ever because it drives me insane. I just take it off because I'm always cleaning, cooking, organizing, showering, etc and I don't want to bang it around or get it all gross. Anytime I leave the house I put it on. In the 2 years I have had it I have probably forgotten to put it on when I leave maybe 5 times.

I usually don't sleep in either of my rings because it's just not comfortable to me personally. I shower/get ready in the AM without them and then put them on after that. I remove them if I'm doing dishes, going swimming, etc. as well. We bought a fake set that looks similar to my real ones to take and wear on our honeymoon because we were at the beach and knew I wouldn't want to wear them in the ocean and did not feel comfortable leaving them in the hotel room, even in a safe, so I wear those on the days that I go work out directly after work so they don't get damaged and I don't have to leave them in the car.

I don't wear mine all the time. Like you I take it off as soon as I get home and absent people coming over (like we're hosting people) I don't put it on unless I leave out, and even then I don't if I am going to the gym. Some may remember but I had a "Oh shit I lost my ring scare" back in September and I rather not ever have that feeling again. It annoys me that I get asked about not wearing it all the time like it makes me any less engaged, FH is engaged and he wears nothing. We have some trips coming up in April & May, as well as the honeymoon in August so I've been looking for a cute faux e-ring to wear on those trips.

I asked my FH not to get me an engagement ring for that reason. I told him I'd rather him put that money towards my wedding band and later on like our year anniversary or something if he wanted me to have an engagement ring that's cool if not that's fine too.

@Niki N - I love the Emily C ring holder pendants - such a neat idea! But they are so pricey. I found something similar on Etsy that does the trick / now I'm just waiting to actually get my engagement ring...

I don't wear mine all the time either. Just when I'm out of the house. I also take it off to wash my hands. I'm super protective of it.

@Melissa I agree. Putting on my ring before I leave the house has become like grabbing my keys or cell phone (and the ring box sits right next to my phone on my night stand), I've only forgot it about 3 times (oddly at least one of those times I forgot my phone too LOL).

I can't wear it all the time, as much as I would love to. I work in a restaurant and we can't wear Jewelry especially with diamonds and my ring has diamonds. The only jewelry allowed is plain wedding band and I can't wait to get married so I can wear ring all the time Smiley smile

I only take mine off when I sleep. I'm someone who is constantly loosing keys and my debit card but I went and bought a cute little ring dish and have made a habit of putting it away in a specific place so I won't lose it. I have another beautiful diamond and opal right hand ring that FH got me for Mother's Day and I sometimes grab it off the ring dish in the mornings and put it on by accident. I was at Michael's buying wedding supplies and the girl was like, your ring is SO beautiful. I said thanks and when I looked down, it wasn't my engagement ring! Ooooops. And it was like 4pm before I noticed. #notamorningperson
