DOC duties

Rachelxoxo, on October 29, 2017 at 10:58 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

So I know that DOC sets ups and helps with that but are most willing to make sure that the wedding party is supposed to be doing what the need to be doing such as being where they need to be at the time they need to be there?

If you mean cueing the WP when each person is supposed to begin walking down the aisle during the processional and lining everyone up for entering the reception for introductions, then yes. A DOC will do that. A DOC's job during the wedding is to make sure your vendors are coordinating and sticking to the timeline, handling any issues that arise so you don't have to know about it, and making sure everything goes according to plan.

My day of coordinator said that she is the person who is going to make sure everything is done right, including "herding" the wedding party, making sure everyone walks down the isle at the perfect time, coordinating with vendors to make sure they are ready and generally making sure everything runs as it is supposed to and everyone is where they are supposed to be.

I found some DOCs have different plans...like some do not teardown afterwards unless you pay more. I would ask what each would specifically cover.

I think it's different with each coordinator. Mine won't be there while getting ready and will meet us at the church. She'll be the one passing out programs and making sure everything is set up and decorating... but the CHURCH's coordinator will be sending everyone down the aisle. So, yeah, it would depend on what's included in your DOC's package.

My DOC will be the point of contact for everyone- vendors and wedding party. If someone gets a flat tire on the way to the venue, they will contact her, not me. She is also taking care of making sure transportation for the wedding party arrives on time at the end of the night. This all depends on who your coordinator is and what they're willing to do / what costs will accrue. Mine is fabulous and brings two assistants with her so shes able to cover everything i need.

It's different with every DOC. I've worked with some who have called me beforehand to make sure everything is right and sent all the vendors spreadsheets about the day.

And I've had others I have barely seen until they pay me.

You need to have a talk with yours.
