Does a part of my centerpiece look tacky?

Mikayla, on April 9, 2016 at 1:24 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 33

I'm struggling with something to fill these Mason jars I painted up with! I don't have a lot of money to spend on my centerpieces which is why I'm making them all. The table will have a white table cloth, a tree trunk slice will be in the middle and sat on top of some moss that will kinda look like its seeping out from under it just to throw some green in there. Then I did these Mason jars to sit on the slice but I have no idea what to put in the jars so I ordered these fake roses. I plan on putting antique gold candle holders next to the jars and spray painting leaves gold to sprinkle around the whole centerpiece. I'm just unsure of the fake roses. Does this look tacky?

I'm picturing the complete look in my head and it'll look pretty once put together. The only thing I don't like is the pink, but I personally have never been a fan of that shade of pink so I'm a little biased when it comes to the color. The flowers don't look bad.

I feel like it needs some sparkle. Maybe a glittery ribbon around it?

I like the sparkle idea! Maybe you can do an iridescent coat over the paint to add some sparkle? The flowers don't look bad. And I agree we only have half of the centerpiece in front of us so it's hard to give an opinion but I think what you said sounds lovely.

Honestly.... the 12 yo boy in me silently giggled because the word "Ball" stands out due to the paint.

I think it's pretty. I agree that they could use something...maybe sparkle, wrap a piece of twine, burlap, or lace around the top or middle of the jar.

Maybe some fresh greenery in with the roses? Or eucalyptus?

@Yorulilfig.... Ok, I giggled out loud because now you are showing me rainbow balls. Sorry. I know this is a serious questions... and the juvenile in me just can't help it. I do like the rustic look to the paint, though.

Think the flowers look fine. I agree that it needs something else. I vote for sparkly ribbon. I just bought a spool for $1 at AC Moore (like Michaels).

You could add baby's breath to the jar if you are worried about the roses looking fake, which I don't think they do Smiley smile

I like everything about this. I would add twine or a shimmer ribbon.

I was going to suggest a little greenery or baby's breath as well to give the look some texture. You can usually find both cheaply at a wholesale flower market Smiley smile

I personally love it the way it is especially since your going to have gold on the leaves and the candle holders.

I like the look. I think it could be slightly improved with some bits of greenery to break up the roses and maybe twine tied around the top? Other than that, I do really like them. I know it's tough trying to DIY your own centerpieces because it's hard to tell when enough is enough or if it's missing something.

Perhaps add a little bit of babys breathes to break up the roses and a little sparkle but other than that it looks good. You cant even tell the roses were fake.

So I'll be the opinion here- the pink looks like pepto.

I think fleshing out the flowers and making the whole thing a cohesive unit is going to go a long way- but the pink is a huge turn off to me.

I think the roses look nice! I wish I could see it all together, because I think the moss will help give it another pop of color to tie it all together. I like the suggestion of adding twine or maybe a bow to the jars but I don't think glitter would work with your stumps, moss, etc. With fake flowers, I think its better not to show the stems/leaves because that's usually what looks the least realistic.

I think it looks great! Maybe add some more greenery and a ribbon around the top of the jar.

I think it looks great. I'm using that same center piece for my wedding without the bark though. The flowers look so real. Where did you get them from if you don't mind me asking?
