Does a part of my centerpiece look tacky?

I'm struggling with something to fill these Mason jars I painted up with! I don't have a lot of money to spend on my centerpieces which is why I'm making them all. I'm struggling with something to fill these Mason jars I painted up with! I don't have a lot of money to spend on my centerpieces which is why I'm making them all. The table will have a white table cloth, a tree trunk slice will be in the middle and sat on top of some moss that will kinda look like its seeping out from under it just to throw some green in there. Then I did these Mason jars to sit on the slice but I have no idea what to put in the jars so I ordered these fake roses. I plan on putting antique gold candle holders next to the jars and spray painting leaves gold to sprinkle around the whole centerpiece. I'm just unsure of the fake roses. Does this look tacky?

Thanks for all the responses guys! I bought twine, I just haven't tied it on there yet. Sparkle would definitely throw off the whole "nature" theme I'm going with. My wedding colors are blush pink hunter green and gold. I had to throw some kind of pink into the centerpiece so I chose the jar. Ivory is such a beautiful color to me and I really wanted to save that for the flowers. I purchased the flowers off of eBay. It's like 2 dozen for $2. Can't beat it!

I was just worried the roses were too big for the jar. I loved the pink Mason jars before I posted this now I'm worried the pink will look bad! Wahhhh.

I say trust what you think looks good. I don't think the pink looks bad and I like the plain white roses.

Skip the moss and put the money into baby's breath. And if your colors are pink, the jar looks great!

I like it! You should add lights or something to it!

You can also maybe see what it'd look like with babies breath (which you can buy in bulk from SAMs club) or even add some greenery, already suggested, or what about adding one or two pink roses to the flowers?

I love the idea of it, and I like that the flowers are low. I agree with others that baby's breath might be a good add on. Is there any way you could adjust that shade of pink more like the sample photo? There's a lot of blue in your pink if that makes sense.

I think if you added a bit of yellow and white your pink might be closer to blush. I'm not an artist though, so others may have a more useful opinion.

I don't have an expert eye for centerpieces but it looks good to me in the photo. I don't think it would be tacky looking unless it didn't fit with the rest of your decor/colours/setting.

    As a pro...

Those are pretty good faux roses. You fooled me, in the photo. I like that you kept them down low - so many times I see DIY centerpieces that have them up higher and they just look....ugly and awkward because the DIYer doesn't know the art of floral design. Keep it low, peeps, and it is almost guaranteed to look better!

For the blush -gold-nature style you want, I like the idea of the gold leaves. Keep it a light touch, though. Pros are also hitting leaves with some gold. I wouldn't put anything else in the vase, though, it will start getting straggly looking and you'll lose the impact of all the roses.

I think the neck of the vase needs something. Twine or raffia is natural and would look good. Or, I would do some green ribbon in a color that complements the moss, to continue that moss-green color up towards your flowers. I wouldn't bling or glitter if you are going for a natural look.

You might lightly hit some smaller type (not tiny) pinecones with a blush, and a gold spray paint, while still letting the brown cone show through, and put those on the table amongst the votives. That would tie in your gold and the pink vase, and bring it down to the tabletop as well.

In any centerpieces that anyone does, the most pleasing ones to the eye and to the brain have some kind of pattern in colors, shapes, or materials, and the arrangement is grounded somehow on the table (in your case using the log slice; others might use a napkin or runner or material under the vase to ground it and to expand the area so the vase doesn't look lonely and tiny on the table).

    Best wishes!

If you're looking for a filler for the flowers you could always throw a little baby's breath in the mix?
