Does anyone else feel like they pay on the wedding and doesn't make a difference

CountryBride, on April 8, 2021 at 1:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So we got a big stimulus check and was able to pay around 11,000 for the wedding, and we still have 10,000 left to pay on it, we are still waiting for our tax return for the rest, however, I feel like we are not making much of a dent into our wedding expenses, like oh here's 10 grand oh look we have to still pay 10 k. we can afford it but I am not liking how it seems like we are not making progress, Please tell me I am not the only one who thinks this

We hate it! We talk about how it feels like we're so close yet so far. Like yea, no problem. We only have these few things to do but then when the amount is said out loud, we're like "But HOW?!?!" lol

So far we've put down 25% through our deposits. 1 year from now we're due for 50%, and then 6 months after that we're due for 100%. Mentally it does feel like it drags out, but it's really to protect you. If you paid 100% in advance you're at risk to lose your money if the venue/vendor goes out of business or doesn't show!

Yea. Definitely had us second guessing too. I'm still excited though. Looking forward to it. Especially since we had to postpone from February, we're just anxious to get it over with now lol.

My wedding is in just over 2 weeks and I totally feel you. We've given small deposits for photographer and DJ, but the rest is due the day before or day of the wedding. We've put down a $500 deposit for the venue (which also does the catering) and 50% of the total estimate is due on Monday when we give them our final guest count. The bar is consumption-based, so the final total will be due after the wedding. We've paid for a LOT, but since the big bucks aren't due until the days immediately surrounding the wedding it still feels like there's so much left and like we haven't really done anything.

Oh, yes! We've (mostly me because my partner is paying for most of the home we're about a week away from purchasing) paid about $12k so far to the venue and vendor deposits, maybe a little more. I hate thinking about that final venue bill that's going to hit me in mid-July and not really knowing what it'll look like. At least I know what's left for my other vendors. But, I do have a whole separate savings account for the expenses I make auto transfers to monthly, so it's there for when the time comes.
