Does anyone else have this ring? Wedding band help!

MrsHulet, on May 5, 2016 at 2:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 29

I have been having the toughest time finding a wedding band for my ring! It's by Vera Wang and one of the jewelry stores I've been to says there's supposed to be one specifically for this ring, but I haven't seen one anywhere in stores or online even close to what she describes.

Anyone else have this specific ring or similar? I just want some ideas because online might be my best bet even though I would rather see the pair in person before purchasing. I live in a smaller college town in Oklahoma so my options are limited to what I've been shown at the local stores here. I'll be making a trip to the city soon though to continue the search!

So I have a similar style. My band is curved slightly around the halo. I'd look into that style.

I sometimes like to wear just my wedding band (without the e-ring), so I would not want a band that curves to accommodate the e-ring.

OP, your e-ring can certainly stand alone -- it doesn't need any enhancement. I'd get a pretty band to wear without the e-ring.

The jeweler I talked to said there was supposed to be a band with three curves, but I have searched all over and have only found a contour band similar to yours with the one curve. Honestly I think I'm paying for just the Vera name because it was priced at 1k for a 1/6ct which I've found a lot cheaper elsewhere online for the same weight. I'm just nervous buying one without seeing it in person! Do you think a straight band would look good?

Is that the matching one? I don't have the same ring as you, but mine is kinda like a flower and it has a specific band that "fits" with it.

I just did a quick look at Zales's website and they don't have it shown as a matched set, just the e ring, and none of the Vera Wang bands looked like they would fit up against it nicely. There was one that had the same twist pattern to it, but it wouldn't fit along side nicely like the one in the photo @Bailey posted. Might just have to visit a Zales store if you can.

I had trouble deciding on a band to go with my vintage e ring. A lot of modern styles were too flashy/sparkly and just didn't sit against my e ring very nicely due to the way it was tapered. I finally did find something with a row of small diamonds. I went to like 6 different jewelry stores before I found it though!

ETA between opening this thread and finishing my post, it looks like you got a lot of good advice, and someone else found the band with the twists that I mentioned.

Mine isn't Vera Wang. It is from the "I Do" collection at Fred Meyer Jewelers. Ring and band $3600

SORRY FOR ALL THE PICS! I want to make sure it is the same in order to help you. Side and under. If it is the same- Fred Meyer Jewelers is the place to go. We are getting another wrap for 1 yr anniversary.

If I were you, I'd probably have a custom band made. That could be difficult to match.

I have an odd shaped e-ring with lots of twists in it, but it's not the same shape in the center (it's a three stone). We talked to several jewelers about the custom band process and found that it was way more expensive to go through a chain store. We plan to go through a local shop that quotes a lot less. If you decide to move forward with the custom band, speak with different jewelry stores in your area to see where you'll get the best service and the fairest deal.

When they make the custom band, they make a mold of your e-ring to get all the curves, and then they make a wax model of the band. You get to see the ring in person and try it on to see exactly how it will fit with your actual e-ring. If you approve the model, then they go ahead and make your ring.

I think a custom band is going to be your best bet here if it turns out there is no pre-designed band that was made just for this ring.

I also wanted to comment on your statement regarding price: "Honestly I think I'm paying for just the Vera name because it was priced at 1k for a 1/6ct which I've found a lot cheaper elsewhere online for the same weight."

While it's definitely a good idea to shop around when making an expensive purchase like this because sometimes you may really just be paying for a name, remember the price of a piece of diamond jewelry is not determined by carat weight alone. There's those "4 C's" that come into play...carat, cut, color and clarity. What you've found for a cheaper price at the same weight would likely include lesser quality diamonds in the areas of those other 3 C's. I would encourage you to familiarize yourself with those "C's" so you can make an educated purchase when you do find the band you love! (or find a jeweler that will take the time to educate you!)

My BFF has a ring that looks the same--she got an infinity band in a smaller loop to match it. I don't have a picture of them together though :/ This is her ring:

@Under the June Willows, That looks very similar to mine and that's kind of the band shape the jeweler was talking about! So it sounds like a custom band is my way to go. I love my ring as it is, so I'm not looking for anything overwhelming, just a dainty band.

How long do custom bands take to make?

@Samantha I thought that was the one made for my ring and it wasn't but I tried it anyways at Zales and there was just too much going on with the twists I already have against the band. It was kind of distracting from the e-ring! Lol

Beautiful ring! Because of the sides of it, I think this band would compliment it nicely. You can prob even get it custom made without the Rose gold claps (all their rings are customizable, and since you're prob not adding, just taking away, it may not even be an extra cost.) This is the wedding band I have chosen for mine, which has very similar sides:

@ Nessa Thank you! This is gorgeous and yeah I think I would like it without the rose gold. I already have little sapphires underneath the ring so that's the perfect little pop of color. Thank you for your help Smiley smile

I actually just saw this one in person and it really is beautiful. It's the exact match to my ering (pictured, which has a band very similar to yours) and I thought it would look too bulky or blingy and it really didn't. Makes it so classy. Like I said, Verragio is very customizable. Check out their site. Hope it works for you Smiley smile
