Does anyone know how to fix this photography issue

Hermione, on August 31, 2020 at 4:02 PM Posted in Married Life 0 11
We got some photos back and the exposure / lighting is weird. Some have an odd blueish greenish tint. We did get some beautiful pictures and the important shots so it's not a completely bad thing. The photographer fulfilled the contract and did give us some really good ones that I already posted. We did get the key moments. Some just didn't turn out well. Is there any way to fix this? I don't want to alter anything about the people or place but is this photoshop?

This is a pre covid-19 wedding. There is no social distancing or mask because it was February 2020.

I suggest that you reach out to your photographer and ask them if they can fix these. Also check your contract before editing any photos yourself - in some cases, that may be considered breaking the contract.

My photographer is out of business right now due to covid and i don't think it's against the contract for personal editing

Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll have any luck fixing the last two shots with your daughter and your dress completely over exposed - which really sucks because it’s an adorable picture of you two swinging her! AYou may be able to correct the tint, but the first image has exposure issues too. I’m glad you got good pictures of the important moments. It’s really unfortunate that your photographer is now out of business, but these aren’t the quality of images that should ever be delivered to a customer so I can understand why.

Tint issues can be fixed relatively easily. I reduced the blue tone in the 1st pic just by using my smart phone. The exposure issues and the rest of the photos however would probably need to be done professionally, or could be done by somebody who knows their way around photoshop.

Your photographer may have put some filters on here causing the weird color casts. The biggest reason to do this would be potentially that the shadows were really harsh and he was trying to soften them up. You could see if he would be willing to walk back some of the editing.

Unfortunately the files seem pretty low resolution/grainy so any work you did on these in photoshop would potentially amplify that, but if you're unhappy with how cool/blue they are you could color balance them to be warmer and see if it changes your feelings about them?

You could also convert them to black and white and see if you prefer them that way. Might work!

They are uploading low quality but I have some high resolution ones. Idk why. I think it's bad internet.

The last 2 shots are overexposed and there’s no way to fix that from where the photos are currently. If the original RAW unedited files aren’t overexposed you may have some luck. Also the blue/green tint (especially noticeable in your dress) is fixable with color correction. You would need to warm it and adjust the color balance/hue.

The overexposed shots look like they are just blown out and will have no detail, even in the RAW file. The first one can definitely be improved by adjusting the color in photoshop or in some app I'm sure. I'm glad you have other photos that you're happy with. I like pp's suggestion of trying them in black and white as well.

Then unfortunately that can’t be fixed.

Ask the photographer to fix it (if it can be fixed)
