Tina, she asked and they answered . Also a quick scroll through the many "self cater" threads in these last 48hrs would've indicated to her the community response towards putting your guests health on the line for a Poorly planned event

Tina, I'm glad you were flagged. You obviously offered nothing but a soapbox speech that aligns with what you're doing. The name calling proves that you're pissed off about being told the truth.

OP, seven months until the wedding, and you don't have this squared away? Poor, poor, poor planning. If you're self-catering, your options just dropped to three hidden venues. If you're having a professional caterer, check fraternal organizations, women's societies, or have it in your backyard. What are you doing about alcohol? Nothing? Something?

Look into a VFW, knights of columbus or Sons of Italy. Maybe a community center or social club that has a hall. . . Can't really tell you that these places are $500 or less because it does depend on your location. The ones here in MA run between $500 - $2000. If the price is cheap best believe that they are probably booked already. Good luck!

I am in central Florida and was able to get my ceremony and reception in the same place and since it will be in the afternoon they gave me daytime rates. I got 4 hours for $550.00 and that includes wait staff, linens, and tableware... However, they do not allow any outside alcohol or food other than cake and or desserts .

Aside from the fact that your desired date is a holiday weekend of this year, so you're probably going to have to change it anyway...

Have you considered possibly doing a Sunday or Friday wedding? Some places will offer lower rates if you pick these days. You can also usually get a cheaper rate in the winter time, if that's an option as well.

And like KatieJade suggested, try looking into your local park pavilions (although maybe not if you end up picking a winter date). They're usually pretty cheap to rent, and you can probably bring your own food. State parks probably wouldn't allow any alcohol, though. Also consider churches. A lot of them have their own reception halls, and can be less expensive than fancier venues.

But there's really not much we can do to help you without a location.

I know at my cousin's wedding, which was at a state park, they had a pretty building and had it catered by a BBQ place. They had beer and wine and I think champagne. It was in Wisconsin and it cost $300 for 3 days, they wanted a day to set up and a day to clean up.

Then you deal with a punch and cake reception. That's it...and tell your guests -- via your invitation -- exactly what they're attending. Call it a day after two hours. That's your wedding reception. If you wanted more, you should have both taken second jobs, pushed the wedding back, and/or lived on a skeletal budget. But here we are, and this is your option...unless you want to take 15 of your family members out to an outrageously luxurious dinner, but, I'm assuming that's not what you're planning.
