Does anyone know what a cake fountain is used for?

kristina, on September 9, 2010 at 10:10 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15

I was looking at wedding decorations online and I came across a wedding cake fountain 4 tier. I was wondering if anyone knows what exactly it is meant for. It's pretty but not sure how it is supposed to be used.

Woa I have never heard of that.. that is crazy! haha

I'd be scared to get water in the cake or cake in the water.

That would be cool if you could put champagne in it! Smiley tongue

Omg I would TOTALLY put champagne in it if I were doing like a strawberry or raspberry filled white chocolate cake. Yum!

H, those were the rage in the 80's. They could be very elaborate and expensive. I remember seeing some with several "staircases" and tiers.

You can put champagne in them and my father ones did one with chocolate but it doesn't look as good as it sounds... slightly miffed that my dad (AW) won't make my wedding cake cause I need GF cause a champagne fountain would be way cool!!

My Aunts eat own a fountain. Lord knows how long they've had it so yea I've heard of these and they are pretty but if its not a newer one they are yellowish so it makes the water look yellow instead of clear :-/

Very old school retro cakes use the fountains. If you are having a retro 60-70's theme it fits

Not a very upscale look these days.

Most brides dont want a display that Looks like the Mother ship has landed!

    keep it simple and elegant.

and if you must have a fountain the choclate version is most popular! :-)

I always love it when things we couldn't afford in the first place are considered out of style. LOL

Yeah I remember they were soo popular in the early 90's too thats what the cake fountain reminds me of. All the weddings I went to had a fountain in their cakes. Not sure what they are good for other than decor
