Does anyone watch their wedding video?

Chip, on September 1, 2016 at 12:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 37

FH and I are debating on whether to hire a videographer or not. I had never seen the point, I don't see myself watching it very often, and neither does FH. BUT, watching other peoples cute highlight reels makes me kind of want one. Does anyone watch theirs regularly?

I do however would like the ceremony recorded, its the reception and pre-wedding activities i'm iffy about

We watched my sister's a few times - and showed it to people who couldn't be there for the wedding (like great aunt so-and-so who couldn't travel for the wedding, and people who lived far away). Hers was also REALLY cheap because my college friends did it - 12 years ago - total friendor.

We decided to get one because I fell in love with the highlight video our photographer offers. We'll get a 5 minute or so highlight video, the unedited ceremony, and some other footage. I'm guessing the only part we'll really use/watch is the highlight reel, but the cost wasn't prohibitive, so we got it.

How big of a budget do you have? Is it something you want to splurge money on, or is it just so you can watch a few times (if that) and forget about? If so, upgrade apps or flowers, or save the money for the honeymoon. Having a camera crew seems so invasive on such a special day.

Our highlight video is online so I like watching it here and there. We also have a 2 hour video and we also had wanted the unedited video of the whole night which we enjoyed the most because you can hear conversations and comments and people are funny!

We have money in the budget for one, and the one we would go with is super affordable, its just a matter of do we want to spend it on something we will (potentially) only break out a handful of times.

I watch all my videos at least weekly. So does my husband. And we got married in January. I love mine so much and I love reliving the day. Best money we spent.

I'm actually curious about it too. Two VIPs won't be able to make it, so I was thinking of getting video for them, but other than that, I don't see us or family watching it. Would it just be easier to film it myself (I have a an HD DSLR)?

I originally did not want a videographer and saw it as a waste of money but I keep hearing from people that it was the best decision they made for their wedding day so now we are trying to see if it will fit in our budget.

I didn't think I wanted a videographer. Then I watched a few highlight videos and I was crying watching total strangers wedding videos LOL! Totally changed my mind and I'm hiring a videographer. I know I won't watch it super often, but it's nice to have. Ya never know what the future holds and i would like to be able to look back at our big day.

Even if it's not watched every week, I think it's something you will have forever and be able to show your children. My parents who were married in their church 24 years ago have a VHS tape of their day, and it was so cool to watch.

We don't want one, it would be a total waste for us. Everyone we know that has a video watched it a few times and hasn't looked at it again. And almost all of the people we know complain about certain things not being in their videos (though they're really great videos from my perspective). But they're all so damned staged and cheezy, it's just not us.

We have a copy of our ceremony that the church filmed for us for $50. I've watched it & I love it, but I'm so glad we didn't spend the money on a professional videographer. The ceremony is all I wanted and I have that recorded, I don't need anything else! I just couldn't justify spending the money. We were all there, we have the memories, and we have a copy of the ceremony!

Honestly, I really want my vows recorded. I would love to watch those after the fact. I also think it will be an awesome thing to look back on in years and show our kids.

We were on the fence about this investment! I asked my photographer if she could recommend any videographers and she gave me the name of someone just starting out! She is building her portfolio but her work is really good! We got her for 10 hours for just $750! It was too good to pass up! Smiley smile Definitely ask your photographer for recommendations.... I am so glad we are going to have it taped!

I'm having a guy from my church to record the wedding for me since he records all the church services and he said he would do it for free but we are going to give him something for doing it.

If you are planning on having a kid or kids, I think they would like to look at it in the future! But I definitely wanted one, because who knows many many years in the future if I'd like to watch it. I had one of my bat mitzvah and I watched it a handful of times, but a definitely never regretted having it. It's fun to relive the day.

Do I watch all the silly videos my parents took of me all the time ? Nope but when I do I love them and they crack me up. So Video for us was the same. 5 years down the road we won't be missing the extra $1000 we paid for video but we'll still be watching the highlights
