I don't want one at all since I feel awkward watching myself on tape and have little interest in rewatching it, but FH is a giant romantic. He envisions touching moments showing it to future children/grandchildren. I think he wishes he had the videos of his own parents' wedding, so that he could see what grandparents and relatives who he never met were like. We'll see what we decide to do.

FH and I discussed it and decided we're more than happy with just having a photographer. Also, it's not something we care to fit into our tight budget for the wedding. For us, it's not worth it, and I think that's what you and your FS have to figure out for yourselves.

Videographer was something I decided we NEEDED half way through planning. Through all the research and watching random people's videos, I was tearing up. And I didn't even know these people. H was also not sure why we needed one and "how often are we gonna watch it?". We ended up getting one. We have the teaser from our videographer and can I just say how freaking amazing it is?! I have watched it at least 20 times in the last 2 weeks. And it's just the 1 minute teaser.

So yes, if it is in your budget I say DO IT!

Because I will shamelessy share this anywhere..... https://vimeo.com/179936826

There is a video DH's grandfather shot but the camera got cut off for a minute in the middle so it only caught my vows to DH and not his to me. Smiley sad but they were identical so no biggie. I've been meaning to post it here but he hasn't given it to us yet. I can't wait. I watch the sideshow my dad made us a couple times a week.

My grandparents (before my grandfather passed away - ugh miss him so much) has their wedding on film. They were married in the 80's and they watched it every year on their anniversary. My grandma now watches it on their anniversary. I plan on going over there to see it one of these days!

We are having a videographer. I want those special moments on film and I want my loved ones on there too as something to look back and remember.

@chip thanks Smiley smile I was even skeptical but knew I would be sad after the fact, not having a video. But I can tell you now with just that little bit, it was totally worth it!

Hiring a videographer is well worth it, IMO. The other day, my husband and I got to see the teaser/highlight reel for our wedding video, and hot damn....we're pretty stoked.

I used to love watching my parents wedding video growing up. @FuturemrsAK I love the idea of watching each year on our anniversary. That's really sweet.

I really wish we would've done it. I don't think you'll regret it by any means.

I'm not getting one. We'd never watch it. I prefer pictures.

I have a friend who says her family, with two littles, watches their wedding video regularly. That helped me make my decision. I will want my kids to be able to experience it with us one day.

When I was about 6 and my brother was 2 or 3, my parents decided to play their wedding video for us. We lost interest about 3/4 of the way through the ceremony, they never played the rest of the footage for us. Never saw the reception portion . To this day, my dad teases me about not being able to sit through it. In his opinion it was not worth it.

That said, I'm considering hiring a videographer just for the ceremony, because that's the part that's important to me.

I will say I didn't get a videographer because I didn't really know it was a thing (sadly I didn't join these forums until the month before my wedding!) and I wish I would've. We're coming up on our 1 year anniversary and I'm so sad that we don't have it. So if you can afford it, do it. I've seen some really good ones and love the music and shots and wish I had had it

I got married 2 years ago and didn't have a videographer. I still don't regret my decision.

This was one of my musts. We have family that won't be able to travel to the wedding and this is a good way for them to see us get married. I love watching old videos so I can see myself watching often.

I would say video tape it just in case. I know when I was older I wanted to watch my mom and dad getting married
