Does it cost extra?

K, on July 17, 2021 at 1:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 2
Does anyone know if it typically costs extra money to shorten the train versus just a standard hem? Has anyone had this done? I’d like the shorten the royal-length train on my dress, but I probably won’t bother if it costs more than just the normal hemming that will be required.

Im asking on here because my alterations won’t happen for about 2 weeks before my wedding, and I’m trying to order a veil now. But obviously the train length comes into play there.

Also, FWIW, my skirt doesn’t have any detail on it

It likely would be more expensive, but maybe not as much as it would if it had detail all over it.

It still requires the alterations person to re-shape the skirt, rather than cut right across, so I would suspect it might be a little more expensive than just hemming the skirt. But maybe check how your alterations person tends to charge and see how you go!
