Does it matter what side the bride and groom stand on?

Lindsey, on May 12, 2019 at 6:40 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 1 19
I'm one of those people who feels like I have a "good side" and a "bad side" and i want to stand on the right side so people see my good side (my left side). Is there some rule that the bride has to stand on a certain side? or does it really not matter.

For reference, this is a vow renewal.

It may not be as typical, but it really is up to you! Go for it!

My left side is my better side as well, so I'll be standing on the right. Traditionally, the groom stood on the right so his left side was available to draw his sword in case he needed to defend his new bride. Today, that's not really the case so I would do whatever you feel comfortable doing!

I'm totally standing on the right side for the same reasons. 1. I will feel more confident and less self-conscious. 2. I want to look back at pictures and love them. Do whatever you want!

I will be standing on the audience’s right. I could care less about the traditional sides.

You can really do whatever you want. Having the bride on the right is traditional for Jewish weddings (which is what I’m doing!)

The sides are typically opposite for Christian and Jewish weddings. So if you're having a nonreligious wedding, you can choose either way. And even if it's a religious wedding, you can typically reverse it unless your officiant has an objection.

For my parents vow renewal we flipped everything. We all stood on the stairs on the band stand in the park with the officiant standing on bottom with his back to the crowd then my parents were a few steps up then the 4 bridal party members stood out to the side 1-2 steps higher in a v. guys were on the right girls were on the left

It's entirely up to you. It really should not matter. You should do exactly what you want.

I believe the Bride should stand on the left side because this the Groom's weaker side. Since the wife to be his help mate, she is to fill the void so to speak. The wife is to make up the difference where he is weak she is strong. The right side of the Groom is the side of Strength Power and Authority which is his stronger side. Remember according to the Word of God, Eve was created for Adam. She was created from a rib on his side which left that side weak.
