Does someone have a beautiful backyard or know where I can rent a vacation home for our wedding?

Vanessa, on April 22, 2014 at 5:34 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

I've always wanted a backyard wedding but my parent's home isn't big enough for our wedding. Plus it isn't secluded. Does anyone have any ideas of where I can rent a home for 1-2 nights? We would have approx 120 guests, and would have it catered.

I've checked out VRBO. I found 2 people willing to rent their homes. Both are beautiful but our of my budget ($2000 per night). Any ideas?

I started our planning wanting just that. We ended up going with a local park. You should try checking that. I found one that had an event tent, and a nice field with a pretty arch, tables and chairs for 160 guests, we could do our own food, or have catering, no extra permits for alcohol, and it's $450 for the area from 6am-9pm.

I'd call a couple of the caterers in NJ; my faves are Fruited Plain, Emily's Cafe, and Takeaway Gourmet; all of them are here. Odds are they will know places that you can rent.

I'd also look at the Englewood Woman's Club and the Hermitage. Both are pretty historic sites that don't cost that much. There is also the Ridgewood Woman's Club, the Glen Ridge Woman's Club and the Fortnightly Club, in Morristown and the Museum of Morris. All are built in antique mansions. There is also the Mountain Lakes House, in Princeton.

I had the same issue. I wanted to get married in my parents backyard but they nixed it for logistical reasons. We ended up at a bed and breakfast just a few miles from our home.
