Doesn't Like Cats or Dogs - Red Flag or Deal Breaker?

Deal breaker. My animals are my family. He's had to embrace that.

I'm a dog person and FH is a cat person. I was really worried when we first meet, because he seemed to not like dogs.

Well, I make friends with every dog that passes me on the street, and our friends have dogs, so ... FH likes dogs now.

(I still don't really like cats. But I'm open to adopting a bonded pair.)

He's allergic to cats. I had to give away my cat when he moved in but my cat was legit the devil so it worked out. I love cats but I swear that cat was possessed. She attacked anyone that came in the house and drew blood. We opted to get a dog when he moved in. It was my first ever dog. I'm now a dog person lol.

It's neither a deal breaker or a red flag. We both love cats and dogs, though we both have had issues with animals in the past. Dogs like to maul me and cats like to stare him down. So, for now we only have a cat that luckily doesn't hurt him or anything.

Neither because I could go either way with them myself.

If they don't like my 2 pugs, 2 cats, and my hedgehog, they are not the one for me.

I would say deal breaker for sure! I love animals. Especially dogs. FH and I are both allergic to cats. Luckily, he's grown up with dogs so he loves them and although I've never had one, I've always loved them. We plan on getting some of our own.

There are many people who do not like cats or dogs. I guess it just depends on how much you love one or the other. For me it is not a red flag or a dealbreaker, unless I really want an animal in the house. I personally am a “dog” person, but I do not dislike cats.

I really don't care about cats. At all. I just know I never want one, so him really wanting a cat would be problematic. Dogs I'm indifferent. I love them but I also would be fine never having one.

I have cats and he has a dog. He wasn't a fan of cats when we met, and he'd still prefer if we didn't get any more when mine pass, but he also loves my cats (specifically just mine), and recognizes that, that is a battle that he can not and will not win. If he hated my cats, and I hated his dog, it would be a definite deal breaker, they're family.

Complete deal breaker. My dog has been task trained as a service dog to help me (she senses migraines and can alert me when one is coming on among other things). I also am typically active in dog foster. Dogs are essential to my living lol. I can't be with someone who didn't love my babies too.

Deal breaker 100%. I probably wouldn't have gone past the first date. I'm a cat person, but it would've been a deal breaker if he was against dogs too. All animals deserve love!!

My FH also wasn't a huge cat person until we moved it together. He was obviously okay with my cat, but never really had one growing up. It's been really fun to watch him grow to love my Mercy girl. He won't admit it, but he's a totally softy

Yeah FH never had cats and he only knew of the negative cat stereotype so at first he was like “Yeah ok” about meeting my cat but near the end he never wanted to let him go. I have a feeling he’s going to spoil our cat absolutely rotten, like build it a bed/throne and everything.

Deal breaker if they don't like dogs. I have a fur baby and there's no way I would trade her in for someone who doesn't like dogs! Next please!
